Titanfall 2 coming later this year, Mass Effect Andromeda slated for Q1 2017

During a presentation at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen shared details on the launch window for this year's instalment in the first-person shooter Battlefield series, as well as Titanfall 2 and Mass Effect Andromeda.

According to Jorgensen, Respawn's title will be making its way to shelves by the end of the year along with the next Battlefield game, with the upcoming instalment in the Mass Effect franchise set to debut sometime in Q1 2017 (Q4 2016-17 financial quarter):

We've got a great year ahead... we've got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it's called Titanfall, it's the second title that they brought into that brand. Both of those are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action-driven shooter market, as well as the strategy-driven market in that quarter... We have our Mirror's Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we're pretty excited.

The executive's statements are in line with what EA has mentioned in the past. As for what's on offer with the games, there's not much more information to go by, but we'll likely hear more at this year's E3 in June. What game are you guys looking forward to the most?

  • For me, it has to be Mass Effect Andromeda. I love to explore, I'm a complete sucker for a good story and the developers say the new game is going to be more like the original, which to my mind is still the best.
  • I could not agree more. Mass Effect, and Bioshock infinite had me hooked with story alone. I can't wait for a new story in the Mass Effect universe and I actually hope they do a remaster, I'll buy that.
  • I don't know if Mass Effect: Andromeda could live up to the original trilogy. Some of the key Mass Effect people have left BioWare. Mass Effect series creator and project director Casey Hudson left BioWare and joined Microsoft Studios. BioWare founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have left BioWare. Mass Effect 1 and 2 lead writer Drew Karpyshyn left BioWare, then returned but doesn't seem to be involved in the new Mass Effect game.
  • Well it wont live up to me2. But it will be as good as 3 or 1 at least :). It will be a mediocre game like inquisition as worst so basically andromeda will be amazing nonetheless ^^ Posted from your moms place :D
  • Yeah first one was really great, second was still good but the 3rd went a æittlew over the top for me... but I still bought it haha
  • Titanfall 2 awwwyeah :D
  • Worst game ever Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Play Superman64
  • Titanfail was pretty awful.
  • You can make a legitimate claim that Titalfall was overhyped, shallow, short, or gimmicky, but not awful.  Now Star Wars Battlefront, that is awful.
  • I'm so excited for it. The first one is still so much fun. Shame that the online community abandoned it so quickly for other franchises that stole their ideas Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Just played last night on PC and it was packed.  Love this game.
  • I skipped titanfall because it is multiplayer only. However I would like to see fps title from respawn with single player campaign. As a original infinity ward team they did fantastic job with call of duty (Remember modern warfare?) btw, now CoD sucks, I hate all the futuristic nonsense in new CoD games
  • https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CcfmKToUMAA_A2D.jpg Though, personally, I think BO3 has the best multiplayer of any CoD... buttery smooth, precise shooting, very balanced gameplay, and great maps.  I found its single player campaign hugely disappointing, though, especially since I like BO2's campaign the best of any CoD, even more than MW's classic one.
  • Really looking forward to Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect, especially the latter. The trilogy was great.
  • Did you like 3? Over 1 &2?
  • Overall, I'd say I do, also thanks to the (extended) ending, actually. Then again, you can appreciate it a lot more from the perspective of the Indoctrination Theory, which I find fascinating.
  • yea. ill miss some of those characters.
  • I rate all three very closely to one another, for different reasons. ME1 was by far the best RPG of the three of them. ME 2 and 3 both dropped the in depth skills and weapon mods, but at the same time gained improvement in playability. ME 2 was the best rounded game of the three, balacing decent gameplay and story. ME 3 was great in that it had some big emotional impact and story arc wrap-ups (Tuchanka and Rannoch in particular) and while it fell flat on its face in the last 15 minutes, you can't discount what was elsewise a very solid game.   That being said, the From Ashes being Day-One DLC and the fact that it contained such a major part of the story was 200% scummy by EA. I had gotten the Collector's edition so I got it with my purchase but even so, it was definitely a bad move.
  • interesting, yea I think 2 was the best, I ran through it with infiltrator, tried it with sentinel on the suicide. I enjoyed 1.
  • Respawn has really kept tf2 on lock down. I have yet to see or hear any leaks from a game being released this year that's crazy in this day and age.
  • titanfall 2 is looking good to me, I liked the first one but wished it had a single player
  • I'll be buying mass effect for sure
  • I don't think Comm. Shepard is going to be our main protagonist in this rendition, regardless ill eagerly await its arrival.
  • Pretty sure Bioware has said that the Shepard saga is over and that the new game is going to focus on new characters.
  • yea, perhaps he'll play a cameo of sorts?
  • I would expecf to see some mention of him/her but it may also depend on what ending players chose in part 3.
  • the distroy reapers ending is the canon ending. Meaning Shepard survived BUT this mass effect game is set in a completely different time period decates AFTER me3. Also everybody should have realized by now that we are going to play the child from mass effect 3s ending who is walking around with his grandfather telling stories about Shepard ( the cut scene comes after the credits ). Just watch it and you'll know that I am right. Posted from your moms place :D
  • BioWare said that one one of the endings is canon.
  • Definitely titan fall 2 because of campaign hype ! And mass effect Andromeda. Not really hyped to yet another battlefield after hardline flopped last year and battlefront totally killed any hope left fot star wars games. Dice and I are done for now. Posted from your moms place :D
  • BioWare has gotten too preachy in the past few years. Think I'm gonna give Mass Effect a pass.
  • can you elaborate on that?
  • I'm sure I'll end up buying ME:Andromeda, but I completely agree that BioWare has become very preachy. Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age 2 definitely felt very preachy to me regarding race and gender.
  • Little tip... avoid Gone Home, lol
  • So much talent has left Bioware working on Mass Effect, it's worrisome.
Also, storywise I wonder how they get out of that corner that they painted themselves into at the end of ME3.
  • It's all good information. But what I really want to know is when will mass effect 2 and 3 be available on Xbox one via backwards compatibly like ME1 is now? It would be a crime to not do it.
  • TF2 preordered!
  • Can't wait to group up with friends and play Titanfall 2.  We had a lot of fun with the first one.
  • Can't wait for Titanfall 2.  The first game was pretty cool, but got boring quickly because of the limited game modes and customization options.  Definitely helped BO3 become what it is today with the fluidity of it's version of the wallrun.
