Want to run PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) on a lower-end PC? See free-to-play PUBG Lite.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a battle royale game focused on scavenging weapons and using stealth or other tactics to be the last person alive. While the title has seen unprecedented popularity on Steam and other platforms like the Xbox One, it still suffers from a lack of optimization. For example, even with one of the best NVIDIA cards out there, you frequently see drops down to 30 FPS at moderate settings. The base Xbox One version drops down even further, and the Xbox One X port doesn't take advantage of the added power in a meaningful way.

Recently, Bluehole Inc. announced "PUBG Lite." PUBG Lite is a free-to-play version of PUBG that features very low requirements. You can read the new minimum and recommended specifications below. They're vastly improved from the standard release.

Minimum Specifications

  • Windows 7 and above
  • Intel Core i3 2.4 GHz
  • 4 GB RAM
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • 4 GB storage
  • Windows 7 and above
  • Intel Core i5 2.8 GHz
  • 8 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870
  • 4 GB storage

Curiously enough, PUBG Lite only appears to be available in Thailand at the moment, but it should roll out to other countries "soon." The team said that it's in the final stages of review before the game is available to everyone, so hang tight!
