Although phones such as the Dell Venue Pro and the HD7 have been available in India for sometime, official support for the OS, including the Marketplace, has not been available. Now, come October 12th, Microsoft looks to be kicking off the Marketplace and other services in India for the first time, opening up the gates for HTC, Samsung and LG to start seriously pushing their devices in what is an admittedly huge market.
The news comes way of an official press conference to be held in New Dehli on October 12th. Evidently Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft India, will also be there, making this quite a big event.

When are new wp7 phones coming to Sprint?
How to get the invite for this launch event. As I' from New delhi and want to attend this event. !!
@DanielThe city name should be 'New Delhi' :)And I think they are launching it officially now coz Nokia World is on 26-27 and maybe the WP handsets that Nokia announces would be available within a month. And Nokia is still pretty big in India. So they might wanna make sure that Marketplace and everything is ready by then.
Frak. When do we get marketplace support in Malaysia. It' ridiculous that I can't buy apps even if I want, even if I'm willing to pay in USD or SGD and suffer the bank's ridiculous exchange rates. This isn't exactly asking for zune pass access or something.
