Xbox 360 owners won't get Call of Duty: Black Ops III's campaign mode

If you own an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and a are a big Call of Duty fan, you might want to think about getting a new Xbox One or PlayStation 4 to play the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The game's publisher Activision has revealed that the older-gen console versions of the game won't include its campaign mode.

According to an Activision blog post:

"The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware."

In addition, the Weapon Paint Shop and its eSports tools will also not be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. Both versions will now be priced at $49.99, which is $10 less than the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC versions of Black Ops III. However, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will include a code for a free download of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops game.

Buy Call of Duty: Black Ops III for the Xbox One at Amazon (opens in new tab) ($59.88)

  • They deliver 50% of the experience but still charge over 80% pf the price?
  • Just say 90% lol, I'm bad at math =p
  • 83.3% to be precise... Posted via the Windows Central App
  • Uh...hmmm. Yeah idk what to think =\
  • Will the code you get with the 360 version work to get the full game in PC? If so, buy on Xbox, and play on both
  • "This has no chill"
  • Crock of shit.
  • It's like Turn 10 Studios went "Hey guys, you're getting Forza Horizon 2 on X360 but... you're not getting the races. Just... free roam or something, idk, figure it out"
  • The thing is : Free roam is even more fun to be honest:D
  • so multiplayer only? price should be locked at $29.99 and NOT called Black Ops III.
  • A free copy of a game I'm sure any nigga that buys this game has or had LOL
  • $39.99 even sound too High. But $50 for half a game!? I thought all older gen games were $10 less already anyway?
  • Campaign doesn't make them money really. People want online. Campaign is important to me.
  • Exactly this isn't going to deter people to switch to new consoles/PC(Activision really doesn't care about PC users either if you look at the half a dozen titles they've released don't get dlc)
  • This def sucks. I only play the campaign... Once X1 is under $200 ill jump. For now. Meh. Don't have a hard-on for games anymore. BF CoD campaigns are what I wait for. Online is gay now. Bunch of 5 yo that are amazingly better than me lmao. On their stupid microphones talking shit about nothing. Ignorant. Haha
  • I agree damn kids are a PITA. And COD and BF suck now.
  • Lol them and the immature adults/teens aswell
  • Online is gay now? Since when did a game mode have a sexual preference, and when did u learn this? Did it ask you for a bj when you picked multiplayer?
  • Well, its like skyrim when you play it youll get gay. Only here its the other way round, the pvp part got gay by being played.
  • Your comment is gay. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • True :D really wanna play the campaign because treyarch really pushes hard into immersiveness with their black ops games. Great stories so far.
  • Holy crap that sucks but come on these consoles are almost going to be 11 years old already. Also PC gaming is getting cheaper might jump on that again.
  • Agreed.
  • Lol compared to 25 years ago PC gaming more expensive now for mainstream titles & I thought the original PC port of crazy taxi was expensive
  • Lol
  • 10 years in decembre #xbox360
  • Asinine. They should be ashamed, especially at that pricing
  • It is 11 year old hardware. If you really care, why are you still using a 360?! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Because not everyone can afford a new console or a decent enough PC Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • And because the 360 still rules like shit. :) all the good games of or youth pr/and childhood are on that console and the PvP are still used by thousands :)
Dont Need a new system with no games there to be honest. I got all halo games, all splinter cells, destiny and all assassins creeds and so on. 213 games total. I don't need a pc nor a next gen console.
  • People play the campaign in these games?
  • Everyone just by Wolfenstein New Order in protest
  • I'm surprised they're still releasing on the last gen at this point.
  • Activision are a complete waste of time, they have no respect for consumers, Once they have your money they honour nothing. You can't contact support by phone, you have to rely on some idiot on live chat being bothered to take his job seriously, I have dlc that doesn't work, been waiting 7 weeks while they investigate & they ignore all contact ACTIVISION SUCKS TOTALLY.
  • I cant say that's completely true. At least not for me. I've had multiple problems which I have contacted Activision about, and they have dealt with I most of the time the day after contact. The longest I've had to wait is 3 days. Dunno about others thou so that's just my experience.
  • Oh my. See this is why I told my friends id be buying, if I ever buy again, Activision games used. $60 wasted on Ghosts, $60 wasted on Advanced Warfare and $60 wasted on Destiny. And now they're like oh we couldn't fit this into the 360/ps3 versions so we'll give you a $10 discount. What a joke.
  • Dude. Destiny wasn't a waste. Its a really good game now, and if we wouldnt have played the shit outa it after the first weeks when it released we would have liked it much more I think. :D
Destiny was not the game we excepted nor deserved but its getting there. Taken king really finished the packatewup real good.
Really would recommend buying the legendary edition now.
  • Well, CoD campaign has been bad ever since ... so it is no big loss
  • Modern Warfare 1 was the best of all the COD's Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • 360ists
  • So you have to pay for a game that requires subscription only for most of the money? And i bey idiots will still buy it and we'll all see 200 copies within 2 nano seconds in the preowned section yet it will get rave reviews and record sales, i wish i was this smart to make money
  • It's been time for players to transition anyway 11 year old hardware come on already.
Not to mention Titanfall does this much better and Halo 5 is on it way next month who in their right mind is waiting for BO3 looking for something innovative on the same old game engine?! . . . Who's excited about Rainbow 6 Siege btw? Gamertag: Freeform Moni

  • I don't play CoD, but this is shocking.
They're (at least here in Australia), charging the SAME amount.
    They have some cheek.
  • What a disappointment, this is worst then what they did with Forza Horizon 2 for the 360, less content and they still manage to make it more expensive then the One version, which is bull****
  •    While I don't agree with the pricing for the 360 and PS3, I imagine that the experience won't be that much different from playing Titanfall since that doesn't have a campaign mode either.
  • No loss in my opinion. Played the beta and it was terrible. My preference would be to scrap COD all together. It's long overdue. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
