In Short

Halo 5: Guardians is the next in line in the Halo franchise. Developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft Studios, Halo 5 is set for an official release on October 27, 2015. Then unnamed, Halo 5 was first announced at the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo, and made official in a blog post in May 2014. Halo 5 is an Xbox One exclusive that does not feature any offline content — including co-op and multiplayer modes — or have any LAN option.

A new multiplayer mode dubbed Warzone was shown off at E3 2015, and combines PvP (player-versus-player) and PvE (player-versus-environment) gameplay. As players progress through the game, they level up through tiers of the Requisition system, which will allow the player to unlock power weapons and vehicles as they score more and play through the game. The maps in Warzone are four times larger than any previous Halo map.

Halo 5: Guardians is also the first numbered Halo title to have a Teen rating, rather than Mature.
