Alienware's Area-51 is already one of the most powerful prebuilt gaming PCs you can get your hands on, but Dell is ramping things up even more for AMD fans. The company announced today that it's updating the Area-51 R7 Threadripper Edition with AMD's 2nd Gen Threadripper processors, bringing the 16-core Ryzen Threadripper 2950X and 12-core Ryzen Threadripper 2920X into the fold. Additionally, the 8-core Ryzen Threadripper 1900X is now an option for those who don't need the latest and greatest.
Both 2nd Gen processors should bring plenty of added "oomph" to the Area-51 lineup, with the 2920X and 2950X being able to hit boost frequencies of up to 4.3GHz and 4.4GHz, respectively. But there are plenty of other components that add to these PCs' gaming pedigree.
On the graphics front, Dell is offering up a wide variety of options, including up to NVIDIA's GeForce 2080 Ti and AMD Radeon RX Vega. Dual graphics cards are available as well for the RTX 2080 Ti, Radeon RX Vega64, and selections from NVIDIA's last-generation 10-series cards. And if you must go even more overboard, you can snag triple graphics cards options with AMD's Radeon RX 570X or RX580X.
Up to 64GB of RAM is also available, along with up to 2TB of storage, whether from a traditional mechanical hard drive or M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.
All of that power won't come cheap, however: Dell says that it's targeting a starting price of $2,200. If you can swallow the cost, the new Area-51 R7 2nd Gen Ryzen Threadripper Edition is expected to go on sale starting November 8. For now, you can check out the rest of Alienware's Area-51 lineup at Dell.
