AT&T holding a fire sale on Windows Mobile phones

"Everything must go! Folks we are literally giving away these phones, we cannot hold on to them any longer! We need to make room for the iPhone 4 and Andro...err, Windows phone 7 devices"

That's what we think it sounds like over at AT&T right now as evidently they sent out an email to their "premier" fancy-pants customers noting that you can get some pretty solid Windows Mobile 6.5 devices for bargain rates (*with a new contract of course, they're not that desperate).

For example:

  • HP Glisten (review) for free
  • Samsung Jack (review) for free
  • HTC Tilt 2 (review) for $74.99
  • HTC Pure (review) for $39.99 (out of stock)
  • LG eXpo (review)for $69.99

A 1GHz Snapdragon device for $70? Oh LG eXpo, we hardly knew you! (-_-)

Anyways, if you need a backup device, want to stock up for the apocalypse or befuddle friends and family by giving them as gifts, head over to AT&T and get them while we still recall their names (opens in new tab) (Premier account login required).

Hey everyone, remember how like nine-months ago, these devices were the talk of the town and the Touch Pro 2 was a boarderline unicorn? Yup, those days are now over, time to move on, the unicorn is dead.

[Thanks, Mark L, for the tip!]

  • unfortunately... you have to qualify for an upgrade.... i see the cheaper prices, but when selecting, i get the full price on all of them! hopefully they last until next week when i qualify for an upgrade!
  • Too bad for you. They treat people who are not going to the iPhone 4 like second class citizens. They get to upgrade anytime in 2010 if they are able to.
  • i agree.... my wife's iphone account was eligible for upgrade last month.... was supposed to be this september (gee i wonder why)yet my account, which was upgradable yearly (fan account) got a six month delay in the upgrade for whatever reason, from Jan to next week! either way... next week the expo is mine!
  • My account has 4 lines, all of which used to be upgraded on a 12 month without fail, now has 20 months before each upgrade because "you dont spend enough per line." So getting ripped off for smart phone data is no longer enough for them.
  • NO! Don't do it! As a owner of a working Epix, I'm STILL waiting for them to upgrade my phone to 6.5. They may say they love you as a customer and give you "up front" deals, in the end they'll drop you like a iPhone 3!
  • First, it sound like a little false advertising to me: "Graduate to a Windows Phone". Sounds more like "Windows Phone" 7 than Windows Mobile. And what does it say about AT&T's confidence in WP7? AT&T has already made a "generous" upgrade offer to current iPhone owners that will lock them up for the holiday shopping season and Microsoft's planned WP7 introduction. I assume if someone under contract took AT&T up on this offer, it'll lock them out of the WP7 introduction as well. Maybe AT&T will do for WP7 what they did for the iPhone 4, expand the qualification period. I wouldn't count on it. For those really interested in WP7, this deal is probably a pass.
  • I heard that Apple and AT&T have some sort of deal to block solid Android devices, I would only say that it is in AT&T
  • Or at least only release semi-bizarre devices line the backflop and the square turning into a rectable device. The aero and the aria at least are more normal mainstream shaped device. They may not be high end but there getting better. Assuming that the samsung galaxys releases on ATT as scheduled and maybe the desire/legend comes to ATT the rumor of th Apple ATT conspiracy will be put to rest!
  • They're either getting ready to stock up on WP7 devices (a little far off), or getting ready to drop most WP phones in favor of iPhone, iPad and Android. For those who like new, state-of-the-art devices, choose carefully. This is yesterday's tech you're getting. Also remember, they never really give you anything for free.
