AT&T Pure on sale now for $149.99

The rumors were true. Despite Tuesday being the official Oct. 6 Super Duper Windows Mobile 6.5 launch day, the AT&T Pure is on sale right now, in stores, for the low, low price of $149.99 after two-year contract and rebate. [via Tilt Mobility] And Windows Mobile 6.5 is already on board the variant of the HTC Touch Pro 2.

We sneaked over to our closest store, and there it was. We're obviously not going to do a full-on review while the device is shackled to the AT&T store, but a quick run-through had the UI running fairly smooth, including TouchFLO 3D. Opera Mobile 9.5 was on board, and the WinMo 6.5 build definitely was not one of the newer ones we've seen floating around.

  • I think $149 is a fair price for the Pure. It would have been a great price if it had a 3.5mm headset jack, but with the 5mp camera and the XDA rom upgrades, it kind of up makes up for it.
  • Does this means that we will see the Tilt 2 without the 3.5 mm audio jack ....... I hope not! :o
  • The Pure would have been a much more intriging device with a 3.5mm headset jack. With Kinoma play, Coreplayer, beyondpod and others bringing multimedia capabilities to winmo and making up for the lack of Zune integration, it would have made it very multimedia capable. I wonder if At&t's concern/apple's exclusivity deal had anything to do with the decision to omit the 3.5mm jack? It is also possible that At&t is just out of touch with what Winmo users want or it just looks at Winmo as strictly business devices and if someone wants to do anything media related,
they should buy a fruit phone. Either way it's frustrating for me, being a long time At&t/Winmo user. I would like to carry just one device capable of work and play, but for now programs I use all the time like Pandora just sound better on my itouch than they do on my Fuze playing through the same radio! That being said, the iphone is out of the question for me, XDA is enabling me to be patient by offering up constant upgrades on the software side. I will probably be another year before I can ditch the itouch and just carry one device. That device will be a Windows phone.
  • Get an adapter ;)
  • yeah, an adapter is fine, but it's an extra piece of "stuff" to carry if you need to charge your device while listening to music. at&t likely excluded the 3.5 mm jack so they could appease apple (e.g., stick it to M$) and continue being apple's #1 ho. it's all about the money and at&t is a major money slut being pimped hard by [an] apple. i am really surprised at&t is offering a WinMo (keyboard-less) touchscreen device. someone correct me here, but, are the Pure and the Imagio running different versions of WM 6.5/Manila? VZW's Imagio appears to have the newer Manila build with weather under the clock. early pics of the Pure home page don't include/show weather under the clock. i guess it's no big deal, cuz once a Pure supported unlocker is available from XDA, users are free to load any ROM they please. it will be interesting to read users' feedback on this and the imagio in coming weeks.
  • just use an xperia x1, its still way better then these phones except for the accelerometer. there is really no 1 good HTC phone. I have been waiting for like 2 years for them to make 1 GOOD SMARTPHONE with 1 GOOD 3.5mm JACK --... its been a 2 year long wait. The closest thing so far is a Treo Pro
  • I played around with this device at the ATT store and was pretty impressed. TouchFLO 3d ran pretty smoothly and should appeal to the regular demographic who are looking for a 'flashy' skin to navigate about. Personally, I liked Windows Mobile 6.5 default enough as it is. It saves recources, looks nice enough, and is pretty intuitive. I can't wait until they start rolling out the later 6.5.1 updates which have done a really nice job of essentially making the stylus obsolete.
  • thanks for the info. I am going to check it out at my local store on Tuesday I suspect tomorrow will be to soon. I have read where at least guy gotrot for $100.00 after rebates today.
  • Looks really nice, the 5MP sounds great, but lack of a keyboard on a resistive screen kind kills it for me. Anyone know what build this is of 6.5 they're using?
  • somebody commented its not the newest build that been seen already.
