Beezz v1.1 goes live--push and live tile notifications are a go

We've been waiting on it for two weeks but late tonight (morning for most of you), the Beezz update finally happened. [See our earlier hands-on video]

A cursory look of the app shows no major changes to the UI, but the big new feature is the ability to receive Direct Messages and Mentions as pushed "toast" notifications (those at the top of the screen) and Home (live tile) notifications, which gives you a counter of how many new Tweets have happened since your last check in. (Also, search now works as well).

Overall it seems to be working very well--it's quick to push the messages/alerts and we're quite pleased. Along with GoVoice (Google) and everything is coming along nicely on WP7 just one month out. Of course the app is still free and you can download it here (opens your Zune desktop).

  • I honestly don't see why Beez is getting so much attention, sure its the first twitter app to get live tile notifications, but if you compare to seesmic or even the official twitter app, beez falls way short on features and options. Take for example retweeting something, in seesmic you can retweet and a comment to it, in the official twitter app you can do the same by quoting a tweet, in beezz you cant do that you can only retweet (no adding text to the retweet). Beezz is nice but honestly its way too basic. The only advantage it has over the aforementioned twitter applications is the live tile, but as far as options it falls way short!
  • Hello, First, thanks for the article ;) @win_splash We are conscient of the lack of somes functionalities and it will arrive in the next version : it will have the retweet with quotes, favorites and see conversations. Beezz is basic for these early versions and we wanted that. Stay tuned ;)
  • I was a tab bit critical of Beezz too yesterday. But they are leading the pack as far as third party app, with the live tile and toast. I'm happy they are deveoloping good apps for WP7. I'd pay a few buck for their effort alone. Thanks developers.
  • I wonder if someone can help me with this. I downloaded the updated version of beezz, and I keep getting an error message every time I try to turn on notifications and save the setting. It just says "an error has occurred." I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling it several times but it keeps happening. I don't think there's anything wrong with my HD7. This is really disappointing. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks!
  • @Rodney5 Yeah i'm having the exact same error on my HD7 as well. Hope this can be fixed.
  • I'm not getting updates on the live tile at all. When I open the app, I see that I have new tweets, but nothing is ever on the tile.
  • Same here. I've re-downloaded the app and it's still not working.
  • Rodney5 and rodhull I have the exact same problem on the HD7. Maybe it has something to do with the hardware? Anyone with an HD7 who's gotten it to work?
  • No HD7, but it has been running fine on my Surround since last night. No errors and the Tile is updating. So maybe a specific device problem.
  • I have the Focus and its working flawless, but i doubt it would be an issue with the handset,or atleast i hope not....
