Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Insider 'Ninja Monkey' wallpaper

In addition to releasing build 14257 for Windows 10 for PC Microsoft is also getting in on the Lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year for some).

For 2016 (Gregorian) or 2130 (Tàichū) it is the Year of the Monkey so to help celebrate it and the Insider program Microsoft has whipped up some new wallpaper for your phone, PC, Band and DIY elements to make your own.

Microsoft's Gabriel Aul notes in the related blog post:

"We know a lot of Windows Insiders will be celebrating the Lunar New Year this coming weekend. Building off our Ninja Cat heritage, we wanted to provide a fun new set of images to celebrate the Year of the Monkey – you can click here to download. Happy Year of the Monkey from the Windows Insider Program!"

All in all fun stuff so make sure you follow this link to download the files (opens in new tab)

  • Wow lol downloading
  • Let me get out my sundial app...
  • Nice but the flag won't match much longer with Microsoft changing Bing green...
  • Typical...
  • They're changing Bing green?
  • Sun Wukong!
  • As a Chinese,I want to point out,the year of monkey is not about Monkey King.It is just about the monkeys.Microsoft made this Ninja Monkey as what they made before.Forgive my poor English.
  • Well, I don't think either that it has any relation to the Year of the Monkey, I think they just used a monkey and made a reference to a well known character from Chinese folklore. On the other hand, it's not just a "ninja monkey" (in fact, it looks nothing like a ninja), and the reference to Journey to the West is unmistakeable. Frankly I don't know what they were trying to achieve. But you know.
  • Lol
  • How weird... I got myself a puppy for (western) New Year who we called Luna, whose favorite toy is 'Monkey'. Lol!
  • That is the Monkey King. Not a ninja. Although he has some pretty bad ass ninja moves.
  • Yeah! A clear homage to Sun Wukong. Most people ignore this? Hm, that's sad.
  • Happy Lunar...
  • I sense a new t-shirt from windows central
  • Watchu trynna say, Daniel?
  • @rodneyej, probably trying say - stay the course and abstain from the whiskey as it's not good for you :p.
  • Somebody? Pls. Help me get it!! I use WP. Any one sharing it via OneDrive, Mega, mediafire etc.....
  • Windows central universal application?
    When's it coming?
  • Good question
  • "Soon™", obviously...
  • I think they are waiting for the official release of wp10, as all the dev community.... In order to reach all the wp users :)
  • Thanks, but I still prefer the ninja cat and unicorn.
  • Wow. I'm on Lumia 950 using Edge and I can't even click the link to download. How pathetic is that? The external links on the Windows Central app also don't work. Even further, if I try to type a comment on the website, the on screen keyboard doesn't show up (I'm typing this via the app). Gotta say W10mobile is such a mess. Making simple things difficult.
