Could this be Wordament's youngest champ?

Be ready to be humbled.

Meet Joseph. He may very well be the youngest Wordament champ. He's five and a half years old and is already tearing up the Windows Phone Xbox Live game.

Joseph's game stats are as follows:

  • Best Word: Lumberjacks for 120 points
  • Total Score: 1,075,940
  • Total Words: 83,460
  • Best Game Score: 1,229
  • Best Word Count: 68
  • Full Games Completed: 3,032
  • Top Ten wins: 4
  • Best Ranking: 6

He's also a bit of a ham for the camera scoring near or above 500 points and ranking in the 90+ percentile while on camera. But we all can relate to his request for "just one more game". Most say it daily as our wives, husbands, parents, children, pets or bosses try to get our attention.  I just wish I could sit as comfortably in my lazy boy.

For those who haven't already downloaded Wordament yet, you can find it here at (opens in new tab) the Windows Phone Marketplace. It is a free Xbox Live title and very addictive. For those already hooked on Wordament, how does your Wordament stats compare to Joseph's?

  • Wow
  • Yes but can be get the girls?
  • we'll see in 10 years. For now, nice work boy. I can't even beat the 300...
  • Considering the way he can move his fingers, I think he'll have no problem. I type 85 WPM on average and it makes a difference...
  • To the extent that a five year old boy cares about girls, he does pretty well!

  • I just... Oh...wow, that... Score. Good for that kid! Wile I'm getting better, I'm nowhere near that good. Kid, please grow up to build our world wonderful things with your mind.
  • I seen some kid in Japan same age has that kid twice more points than that.
  • Quite the father you'll make... :-P
  • lol
  • LOL to you too troll
  • That's mean.
  • Mean? How can I be. No hard telling the truth. Maybe bring kid from Japan and square off with kid let's see who is better now lamo
  • Don't be jealous just because your kid can't or even come that close lol...
  • Awesome, congrats kid! :-)
  • So I'm apparently not smarter than a 5 1/2 year old. :/
  • +1
  • Crazy good for a 5 years old.
  • My top word is either blender or blenders for 49 points. Good job to him.
  • Great to see this..at 5 1/2 damn, good going kid!
  • Dang, I wish I could get in the top 100 haha! That kid rules!
  • I just can't seem to see the larger words lol
  • A great job by the kid. Thankfully i'm good enough to not be shamed by his accomplishments so i can cheer him on.
  • Whoa. O.O
  • Wow
  • Where does this kid live ? I'll let him take my phone for 10 min to get the final achievements in the game :)

The endless quest for xbox live achivements....didnt really care till I got my WP7 device....
  • Good for you young man
  • What a genius, he is way better than me by far
  • What's a boy! So quick and impressive!
  • My best word is challengers for 80 points.
  • The kid plays way more than I do and have way over double my score but then again I have a job. My best word is toothbrushes for 94 points and I have more top ten wins with 7. But damn impressive for a five year old. Good on him.
  • It's okay, you don't have to feel threatened by a child.
  • Threatened? Not at all, he is just more competition to try and beat which is the name of the game.
  • I got nothing on that kid. I couldn't crack the top ten if I played all day every day!
  • Damn, my biggest word... Cat...
  • This kid puts me to shame
  • O.o
  • i don't entirely believe this. there have been many a scam on the internets. one problem i find with the video is that there's not one time that you see the entire 2 minutes of the game. it always shows the first 10-15 seconds and then cuts to the last 10 seconds. if he puts a vid of the full 2 minutes i'll believe it and well done to the genius kid.
  • watch how fast he moves through the words while the camera is on though... and he could read the word clementines... not many 5 years olds could do that.  I don't think it's a scam.
  • I expected a kid of that kind of genius to be able to read 1000000... Show me the full 2 minutes and I'll believe.
  • And most of the words he spelled on camera are orange error words. Not many greens.. He does have talent obviously but if you gonna claim it, prove it.
  • Please watch the next video posted with four full rounds.

  • Go outside and play!
  • Can I introduce him to my nieces?
  • Seriously, at 5 years old I was outside playing with the other kids, whether it be football, tennis or any other imaginative sport we could think of at the time. Go outside kid and enjoy the real world instead...
  • There's no reason to think he doesn't. As far as you know, he could be involved in any number of sports. And if he's not, that's his business.
  • omg so cute lol. and he's AMAZING. I barely pass that score ever!
  • Little dude is a beast. He would smoke me.
  • I could beat him in arm wrestling any day of the week!
  • I'm 14 and have been a Windows Phone fan since its inception...
  • It looked like he was just guessing a lot of those... I saw a lot of red/orange come up. I'm happy with my performance, though. I very rarely get above 60%, but I always have a lot less words than people around me with the same score - longer words! :D
  • The short words are what get you in the 80th percentile. Then you build on those short words to boost your score.
  • Anyone knows how I get this ? There is no Xbox live here in Indonesia. I wish it still stays off-box at least in non-available country.
  • I couldn't finish watching the video. Too ashamed of myself.
  • If I recall correctly, my best word is probably still "weathervanes". I'm not sure how much that's worth, but I'm hoping it's better than his because I can't compete with any of his other stats.
  • Amazing..he just sees the words. I like Jimmy Neutron..saying think think...but I never get the brain blast.
  • A 5 year old genius you say? Challenge accepted!
  • I find 15 to 20 words per game.  And nothing that long.
  • Don't worry - it's not the size of the word that matters but how you use it :P
  • If this vid is real,  I am embarrased.
  • good god... i've been trying to get into the top 100 for a while now, i've only gotten to 128 once, this kid will grow up to be one the worlds finest writer
  • Why's a 5 yr old have a phone anyway? What about quality time with parents instead of an electronic babysitter...? Sad really...what wonderful childhood memories..
  • Silly person.  He doesn't have a phone.  He plays on mom's and dad's phones.  As for the rest of your comment, rather judgmental eh?  Thanks for your concern, but you don't know what you are talking about.

  • Thanks for all the nice comments.  A few folks are suspicious that Joseph's play is faked because the middle part of the game was edited out in the video.  There wasn't any funny business in the part that was left out, just Joseph swiping words. I'll post an unedited version if there's enough interest. The Wordament team saw the full video and verified that he is legit.
To the people who are concerned that he should be outside playing sports, he's in Little League and swimming.  (He got a top ten on Wordament playing on mom's phone on the way to the baseball game this evening.)  He also plays lots of other games: backgammon, checkers, chess, monopoly, scrabble, and pente, although Wordament is his passion right now.
