Disqus Beta for Windows 10 picks up modern icons and reply notifications

The official Disqus app for Windows 10 PC and Mobile may still be in beta, but it's coming together quite quickly. The app's latest update debuts a new, more modern look for most of its icons, along with reply notifications (finally), updated translations and more.

Here's all of what's new in version 4.0.14 of the Disqus app for Windows 10:

  • New Notifications! You can now get notified when someone replies to you, and the app will periodically update the count when open
  • Modern look and feel! Replaced most of the app icons with more modern-Windows ones, and made smaller UI tweaks
  • Updated translations, added Dutch as an option, and added a "Help Translate" link to the feedback popup
  • The app will now require at least the Anniversary update
  • Fixed an issue where comments from a user would appear even when you blocked them
  • Fixed an issue where linked image/gif URLs wouldn't embed the image

That's definitely not too shabby for heavy Disqus users. With this update, Disqus notes that it is "inching closer to release." For now, however, you may still hit a snag or two here and there as bugs continue to be worked out.

  • I didn't know there was a beta!!!  Will join when I get home.
  • It is one of the Awesome Apps in Windows 10 Mobile, using it for months now.
  • What's it do? Just curious...
  • But not curious enough to Google it?
  • I'd Bing it, but it's not as same as an answer handed to you politely by a human.
  • Disqus is a comment system inplememted by various websites. The app helps you keep track of your postings across the net.
  • Just downloaded it, the "signup" button doesn't work :/
  • Did you get an error message? Press the smiley face in the menu and email us a bug report with the username/email you were trying to use.
  • There is a smiley face half over the top of the privacy policy, so tapping the face is just taking me to the privacy policy on your website. Tapping sign up doesn't do anything.
  • Disqus is my fav -- good to know "it's coming together." 👍
  • I'm gonna be the guy who says what has become my motto: It's 2017, do we need an app for that?
  • Unless Disqus can send notifications from the web, regardless of the site it's integrated with, this app will remain handy...
  • I had the old app on my phone specifically for the notifications. If the beta now has Action Center integration then I can get rid of the old app.  That said, when I look at the Notifications page of the Settings on my phone, I don't see the beta listed there.  I guess I'll just have to wait to see whether notifications actually do arrive in the Action Center before uninstalling the old app.
  • Just received my first notification via Action Centre and now the app is listed on the Notifications page of Settings. Bye bye original Disqus app.
  • I member using disqus on nokia/lumia conversations
