First play and impressions: Forza Horizon 2 presents Fast and Furious

The first thing you need to know is that everyone can get this for free until April 10. There's no requirement to already own Forza Horizon 2 on either the Xbox One or the Xbox 360. Fast and Furious is a separate, standalone product. It's essentially Forza with added Ludacris and Nitrous.

Vehicles in the game include the 1998 Toyota Supra, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, 2012 Nissan GT-R, 1970 Plymouth Cuda, 2013 Jeep Wrangler, 2014 Maserati Ghibli S and 2015 Dodge Charger. The infamous, Dom Terretto 1970 Charger also makes an appearance.

Apart from the new theme, this is essentially regular old Forza Horizon 2 underneath. And that means it's one hell of a driving game. Same driving mechanics, same glorious environments, same incredible looking cars. Instead of trying to win it all at the Horizon festival (which, actually, you already did in this) you're tasked to 'collect' a shopping list of 10 different cars. Since this isn't GTA, you don't go out and steal them, you go out and win them. Racing for pinks.

The same challenges present in the main game are also present here. Speed traps, street races, even the mad showcase events where you find yourself racing something that isn't a car. The first we've seen in Forza Fast and Furious is you, in a Jeep Wrangler, against an Army Helicopter.

This is about as close as we're going to get to actually being in Fast and Furious, but it's a great experience and one we're already having a lot of fun with. The longevity of the game might not be comparable to the main title, but there seems plenty to do and plenty of achievements to unlocks. Better yet if you haven't yet played the main game, this can act like a very long demo, giving you a proper chance to burn some rubber before laying down your money.

  • Still downloading on both consoles.
  • Lmao why?
  • Because it's free. Why not?
  • hahahaha :D
  • Oh shit I'm sorry I don't remember asking you anything.
  • I must apologize on behalf of AriesDog for bothering to answer. People say there aren't any stupid questions. Apparently they never read yours.
  • Free with 2000Gamerscore. What else could a gamer want?? :)
  • So 1000 of your gamer score is a duplicate lie? That's cool
  • How is it a lie when you have to play both games to earn the points?
  • Plus those points help you tier up in the Forza Rewards program. It is almost essential now if you want to get to the new maximum tier level.
  • I'm sorry (not really) that you're too poor to afford both consoles
  • I have a 360s and an Xbox one. My 360 sleeps in the closet in the Xbox one box because why would I want to play old shit I've played out?
  • then you admit you're a closet hoarder?
  • Precisely
  • Sweet.
  • Double dip for 2000g.. Easy 4hour game.. But Christ its fun, free and if one day speed kills me, don't cry as I was having fun!
  • What?
  • What Paul walker use to say before he died in a car crash
  • Oh look, it's today's troll
  • Playing both, will finish them 100%. The cars are simply beautiful and the handling is superb. None of my FH2 cars have that handling.
  • And folks finally get to see what Forza would be like with nitrous. I hope it doesn't make a permanent appearance on the franchise, but I more than welcome it in off shoots like this.
  • Speaking of nitrous... I've noticed that the x360 version doesn't have nitrous and the races are slightly different
  • Is it the entire horizon 2 map?
  • Just parts. Nice and Saint Martin
  • So is it an expansion or what? Xbox.com and this article are a bit conflicting. I download now, without the main game, I play, I play forever?
  • It's another game that you can "buy" for free until april 10th.. They call it a expansion because it uses the the game mechanics of Forza Horizon 2 but it's a separated game
  • Ok just making sure. Thanks.

  • Hey Richard, but can I still play it beyond the 10th of April, for free ?
  • It's like Games with Gold (except you actually own it; Games with Gold only gets ownership with 360; on the One, Games with Gold is like Playstation (only valid as long as you have a Gold subscription)).  It's free for a certain window so get it while it's free.  Once the window closes, if you decide to get it, it will then cost $10.
  • Usually once you have bought a game for free and then they put the price up, then you have it permanently
  • You might be wrong there. With gold on the One you keep your free games no matter what happens to your subscription. I already went through a couple months with silver and kept playing my "games with gold".
  • Xbox.com says expansion. That usually means add-on.
  • Its like farcry3 and far cry blooddragon right just same engine
  • Anyone know if the cars can transfer over to the main game?
  • No. But I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of car pack with them, minutes the nitro kits, in the future.
  • I just finished the intire game and got the achievements as well its worth it .
  • Marked it for download but, FH2 was a epic game...
  • Can't wait to get home
  • Downloading to see if Forza Horizon 2 is worth playing on the 360 or better wait for when I get an Xbox One
  • Get it on the One!  So much better than the 360 version.  You don't have artificial barriers on the One.  On the 360, besides the flat lighting and lack of weather, you have artificial invisible barriers everywhere.  On the One, if you want to go somewhere and there's not a fence, you can go there.
  • Downloading still probably won't get to play it until late tonight
  • Thanks for the tip ! Got it for my next purchase ;)
  • Good game, bit short
  • Can u use the cars on multi player with the main game
  • You can play multiplayer....it unlocks later on....
  • Guess I'll be playing on 360 till they fix whatever error that has been happening on my 1
  • Looks nice, any Nissan S14a in there?
  • The Supra is back!!
  • I'm only milking this game for achievements. I already completed the forza horizon 2 three months ago and been looking for new racing game. Looking forward to forza 6 and the upcoming f1 2015 from codemasters.
  • Just completed it. All the cars you unlock are available in multiplayer. You also unlock a new car for Horizon 2, and credits for Horizon 2 and Forza 5.
  • Perfect look's inside cockpit of Dodge charger
  • Just completed the game and it's really short, but the gameplay is soo amazing!! Easy 10/10 just because the the cars and gameplay!:D Love it
  • The engine sounds suck pretty bad! You get a cool car with a blower on it and they cheaped out on the sound. Idling is even worse...game is,nt worth playing if they can,t even afford a friggin sound track
