XBOX shows off darkest Fable trailer yet and finally revealed its new release date
Fable will come to Xbox and PS5 on February 23, 2027
At the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, the long-awaited Fable finally stepped into the spotlight with a brand-new story trailer. The footage gave us our darkest look yet at the whimsical yet dangerous world of Albion.
The trailer also confirmed the game’s official release date: February 23, 2027.
This new window follows the decision to shift the launch out of 2026, ensuring the title avoids a direct clash with Grand Theft Auto 6 (and the other 3000 games coming out at the end of 2026). Those looking to jump in early can grab the Premium Edition for early access starting February 18, 2027.
Following the trailer, an in-depth Xbox Wire blogpost detailed the star-studded British cast bringing these characters to life. The feature highlights the game’s primary antagonist, Isabel, played with formidable depth by Hayley Atwell, alongside a cast that reads like a "who’s who" of UK talent, including Matt King, Richard Ayoade, Natasia Demetriou, and more.
Associate Narrative Director Craig Owens provided key insights into the cast, explaining how these actors were chosen to perfectly embody their roles. The piece is a must-read for anyone wanting to understand the personality and tone of this new Fable iteration before it arrives on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5, as well as day one on Xbox Game Pass.
