Lumia is a series of smartphones running the Windows Phone operating system made by Microsoft. Nokia started the line with the Lumia 800 in November 2011. The rights to Lumia were transferred to Microsoft when the Redmond-based company bought Nokia's mobile phone business. There are over twenty Windows Phone in the Lumia lineup. The Lumia name comes from the world 'lumi', which means snow in Finnish.

There are five Lumia handsets running the Windows Phone 7.x operating system. There's the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710, which were the two first Nokia phones made with Windows Phone. Nokia then followed with the Lumia 510, 610 and 900. The Lumia 900 was an AT&T exclusive in the United States

The second generation of Lumia devices launched running Windows Phone 8. They include the Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 620, Lumia 635, Lumia 720, Lumia 810, Lumia 820, Lumia 822, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 928, Lumia Icon, Lumia 1020, Lumia 1320 and Lumia 1520.

The third and current generation of Lumia devices launch running Windows Phone 8.1. They include the Lumia 530, Lumia 535, Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 730, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930.

Over 67.4 million Lumia Windows Phones have been sold to date. The most popular by far is the affordable Lumia 520.
