Microsoft Edge rolls out intelligent visual search for iPhone and iPad
Microsoft's visual search is graduating from beta, now rolling out for everyone on iOS.

Following a short period of beta testing, Microsoft Edge is now rolling out intelligent visual search for everyone. The addition brings the iOS version of the app up to par with its Android counterpart, which picked up visual search in June. But beyond that, there are a few other neat features tagging along in this update as well, including paste-and-search and the option to choose from more default search engines.
As for the highlight feature of this update, visual search lets you quickly snap a photo or choose one from your camera roll, then search the internet for information based on whatever you snapped. Microsoft is talking up the feature's usefulness for shopping, helping to track down items of clothing, for example, that you like. That's also bolstered by a built-in barcode scanner, which can be used to find deals on items. Visual search can be used to find more information on landmarks around you as well.
Here's a full look at all of what's new in this update:
- Intelligent visual search gives you a cool new way to find contact info, identify landmarks, or find similar images based on a photo
- Support paste and go/search in address bar
- Choose from more default search engine options
- Performance improvements
And if you're signed in with a work or school account, there are a few other goodies to check out:
- See your organization's home page
- Securely access intranet sites from home
- See mobile browser activity on your PC's timeline
If you're giving Microsoft Edge a shot on your iPhone or iPad, you can check out all of these new features by grabbing the latest update from the App Store now.

Is this only for US users? I don't see the feature in Canada.
-
Jmbezeau. I have it on my devices.
-
This reminds me of the extended functionality of the search button in Wp 8.x/Wp7.x (that was isolated to the US) before it was made into a glorified QR scanner - a decision made using telemetry data...
-
Neither anything about the Windows 10 Mobile version!?
-
Edge for WP10 is dead dude.
-
Edge for W10M is already outdated by 2 versions.
-
W10M is dead dude.

Why waste time with iPhone or iPad. Get the Surface Go with LTE and flip phone. edge will work better on the Surface Go and you get Cortana.
-
Why have a car when you can have a horse and buggy. Flip phone. facepalm! Why would you go backwards? iPhone has visual search with edge. even W10M does not. KJW, stop being a fanbaby and open your eyes.
-
lol I have a Galaxy 7 smartphone lol
-
Why bother with the flip phone then? Your Galaxy is a great phone.
-
He was talking about Surface Go not W10M, trollboy!

He said get a go and flip phone fanbaby. The article is about iOS and android edge getting visual search .. he mentioned getting a flip phone which negates anything to do,with this article. Add in trying to pull out your tablet to photo search while on the go? Only a fanbaby would accept that. No troll here. Only a realist who loves all technology not just one brand calling all else ****. Grow up baby.
