Update, November 9, 2017: The Microsoft Store previously listed the Super Plus Pack for a December 2017 launch, but since this article went live, the release date has been shifted to Spring 2018. While that doesn't mean we'll have to wait until Spring 2018 for the Xbox One X enhancements, at the very least, it looks as though this bundle will come a little later than previously stated. We'll update you with the latest on the 4K Super Duper Graphics Pack for Xbox One X and the Super Plus Pack bundle as soon as we have more information.

Original article below:

Microsoft announced the Super Duper Graphics Pack back at E3, touting new lighting, water visuals, and 4K resolution for Minecraft on the Xbox One X, but we don't have a firm launch date as of yet. Instead, what we do have is a new Super Plus Pack, which bundles various Minecraft addons (including 4K enhancements), listed for launch on December 6, 2017.

Minecraft Super Plus Pack for Xbox OneMinecraft is a game about placing blocks and going on adventures. Includes Super Duper Graphics Pack and Explorers Pack with Chinese Mythology Mashup, Natural Texture Pack, Biome Settlers Skin Pack, Battle and Beasts Skin Pack, and Campfire Tales Skin Pack. Games play better on Xbox One X.

While this pack doesn't necessarily mean we'll have to wait until December to get the update, at the very least, it means it's the latest date you can expect it to drop.

The Minecraft Super Plus Pack bundle will be available for $39.99 for Xbox One.

  • Nice.
  • I still don't get why they are not fixing the broken achievements.
  • I'm curious whether buying this would unlock the texture packs on Windows 10, too
  • I'm confused. The article mixes both Xbox one and Xbox one X. Is this package for both consoles, or just the X?
What if you already own Minecraft, is this a free upgrade then, or do you have to pay the full price?
  • Both consoles. Nothing has changed. You'll get the graphics update, and the other features and bug fixes, but you have to pay for the mashups, skins, etc.
  • All games are for both consoles now, but obviously you can only get the 4K stuff on Xbox One X, there might be other enhancements for the regular Xbox One, not 100% sure on that.
  • paying for this is INSANE
  • Wow i was under the impression the 4k update for XoX was free if you already own the game.
  • Will it be coming to PC and how much will it cost to people who already own the game on Windows Store?
  • Wait WHAT? You have to pay for enhancements now? Whatever happen to free 4K updates and enhancements? https://www.polygon.com/e3/2017/6/11/15779482/xbox-one-x-free-upgrades-4... https://twitter.com/xbox/status/874035862614429698?lang=en So misleading... This is crazy!! Paying 40 bucks??  See, this is why I don't want MS to acquire studios and franchises. They are turning this into Minecraft as a service!!! Truly pathetic if you ask me...
  • Perhaps Mojang should focus instead at fixing the myriad bugs in the game before rolling out paid, superficial graphical updates. Instead, they're too busy doubling down on their ridiculous declaration that "coordinates are cheats", akin to playing in Creative Mode. I'm sticking with Xbox One Edition. Bedrock Edition is a disappointment.
  • The 4K update for Xbox one X is FREE  The super duper graphics pack is not free as this is a graphics pack that includes lighting/textures/god rays etc, if you already own minecraft it’s about £7.99 to buy when released. All this other stuff quoting £29.99 is a bundle which includes the game and graphics packs etc
