Quick look at Angry Birds Star Wars on Windows Phone 8

Although Angry Birds is admittedly getting a little tired these days, it's still kind of fun to see the Star Wars variant in action. Actually, the bigger news is the fact that the Windows Phone 8 version launched at the same time as the Android and iOS versions (gasp!). Folks, we now have platform parity.

We decided to fire up the game to wet your whistle on what the game offers. Sure, it's not going to redefine mobile gaming but we're psyched to know this game is available just in time for AT&T's big push tomorrow. And the game is fun, with those silly birds getting some Force powers and some clever use of the Star Wars sound effects. Plus for $0.99 we can't complain.

Check the above video and yes, Lumia 7.5 users should be getting this soon too.

  • I'm here waiting to get a decent non-biased review about the 920 from you guys before ordering the phone, but you just keep teasing me!
Looks like the game runs really smooth and the phone is quick to launch it. For 99 cents I think it will be a fun time waster.
  • From who are you waiting for a review... and what does it have to do with this video? :D
I mean pretty much everybody has alreadt done review of Lumia 920.
  • "I mean pretty much everybody has alreadt done review of Lumia 920." That's everybody EXCEPT the one that counts: WPCentral's. We'll get it tomorrow, though. Yay!
  • Yeah, sorry...lots going on. Tomorrow, super early AM.
  • Hopefully it's a positive review, I decided to call and preorder the phone anyways. :)
  • Daniel's review will be NEGATIVE. He will trash the 920 making you wish you hadn't preordered it. Cancel that preorder! Kidding, dude.
  • I can't disagree more with the comment "angry birds is getting a little tired". I still love it, great way to kill 15 minutes.
  • It *is* a fun game, but you have to admit between the merchandising, Space and now Star Wars...it's getting a lot of exposure.
  • Especially on here. Three articles in three hours is a bit much.
  • When news about a particular game comes along, we have to publish it. When it rains, it pours.
  • I never understood this.  If it's an article that doesn't interest you, skip past it.  I'll take something over nothing, even if it's Angry Birds.
  • I think the main thing is, even if we don't want it. It IS great that we can have it as soon as it's available for the other platforms, so we're not left wondering what the fuss is/was all about!
  • Running Windows 8, gonna pick up a 920 tomorrow. Hoping for a Surface for Xmas.
One question I haven't really seen much discussion on.
If I buy Angry Birds Star Wars today on the Windows 8 Store on my laptop, will I be able to transfer it to my WP8 tomorrow or do they make you buy it twice?
  • We actually discussed that in our previous article.
  • It's available on Windows 8 now
  • You don't say!
  • I've been playing it on Windows 8, it's just as ridiculous as I expected, but way more awesome. It nails the Star Wars feeling and has fun new birds and mechanics (like blasters firing at the incoming birds), plus it's got ground and space levels. My only complaint is that it's too easy, but part of the easiness is having a mouse and 27" monitor instead of a thumb on a 4.3" screen.
