Sonic Mania Plus launches on Xbox One, gets Xbox One X upgrade
Sonic Mania Plus brings a lot to the table.

Today, Sonic Mania Plus launched on Xbox One and other platforms. While specific details about the Xbox One X upgrade weren't revealed, the Xbox Store listing displays the "4K Ultra HD" designation. This most likely means that it runs at 4K 60 FPS on Microsoft's machine.
Sonic Mania Plus is the long-awaited update to Sonic Mania. To access the new content and additional characters, existing owners need to buy the "Sonia Mania: Encore Pack" for $4.99. Sonia Mania Plus seems to be the definitive edition of the game due to the scope of the new content.

16 bit game running at 4K, that seems like a waste of development time.
-
Not really, the menus and edges are much clearer.

A 240p game like Sonic Mania doesn’t scale well to 1080p, 4K actually addresses this. That, or you set your Xbox to output 720p just for one game.
-
Agreed. For pixel perfect scaling it's best to go with integer scaling and 4k is a size that can be multiplied cleanly from a 280p source. 1080p is an oddball size causing scaling issues among other things.

Still looks pix-elated though, right? I'll just play my old Genesis for that effect. I'm liking Sonic Generations, which is now back-compatible. Good mix of 3D/2D, with better graphics, IMO
