Sticky Notes for Windows 10 now lets you start a new note from the taskbar

Microsoft's Sticky Notes app for Windows 10 has picked up some handy new features with its most recent update. Included in the latest version is the ability to start a new note from the taskbar, thanks to a new option in the jump menu, along with some font changes and more.

Here's a look at all of what's new, from the changelog provided on the Windows Store:

  • We like to make it as easy as possible for you to capture all your notes, big or small, so we've added the ability to create a new note straight from the jump list.
  • We've changed our font from Segoi UI Emoji to Segoe UI for a few different reasons, the most important being that we now support ¯_(ツ)_/¯. An important change, we think you'll agree.
  • Our text was doing a little dance when you tried to resize your notes. It's taken its dancing shoes off now and will stay still as you resize.
  • We've made a few little UI adjustments to the upgrade prompt, such as removing the Later button. You'll now find a neat little X in its place.
  • Finally, we made a few adjustments so that the app will be speedier at launch. Enjoy!

Overall, not that bad of an update, especially for those of us who happen to be big fans of the ¯_(ツ)_/¯ emoji. If you haven't already, you should be able to grab the latest version of the Sticky Notes app on the Windows Store to check out all of what's new in detail.

  • Still can't save/sync to other devices? Still not on mobile? Welp.
  • Bring sticky notes to mobile. Also make an automatic sync to a sticky notes section in One Note. It should be seamless and sync across devices. I should really submit this to feedback hub...
  • Second you.
  • They do have a few suggestions on this so I upvoted all of them :).
  • I don't see the update but, I hope they actually close when you click the X. Right now you have to right click on the taskbar and close. I don't understand why they cant fix that. Super annoying.
  • Are those sticky notes remembered after a computer restart? I know they all get forgotten on Windows 7 once you restart the PC which has always been lame to me.
  • Sounds like a bug, as mine actually carried over from 7 to 8, 8.1 then 10.
  • Interesting... I thought this was supposed to be as I described. I'm gonna have a look at it later. Thanks!
  • My hard drive died. Found instructions on the web on how to copy and import them.
I never had an issue with a restart.
  • how do people access the /shrug emoji quickly? it's not in a keyboard unless i'm missing something.
  • sticky notes still feel clunky for me... like do I need the inkspace and also have sticky notes locked on my taskbar.....  I'm not a big user of them but it's definitely gotten more interesting to me!
  • Has anyone of you used an app called Turbonotes  ?? Wish Windows Sticky Notes had similar features
  • Does the update allow you to change font size, alignment, line spacing, bullet lists, etc.?    I reinstalled the original Sticky Notes from Windows 8 to keep those features, because the Windows 10 version dropped them, so I don't want to update and lose them again...
