Starpoint Gemini Warlords is a popular PC space simulator which combines third-person capital spaceship combat with strategy and role-playing elements. The goal is to become the Warlord of the Gemini system by building mighty fleets and sending them into battle.
Unlike many strategy games, Starpoint Gemini Warlords allows you to directly control your ship to show off your battle prowess. You can aim and fire manually or command your gunners to do the job for you. You can even choose companions to follow you into battle if you need an extra hand. Battles in the game are unpredictable, with some being simple duels, while others involve entire fleets.
Starpoint Gemini Warlords is coming to Xbox One soon, and its developer has shared how it plans on supporting Xbox One X. In an interview with WCCFtech, Mario Mihokovic, the head of Little Green Men Games, discussed the technical aspects of Starpoint Gemini Warlords and why the game won't be coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4). The game will launch on Xbox One in a few weeks time, the official date is to be announced this Friday, but it will be the first half of February. Xbox One X support is very likely, but since we only recently obtained... consoles, testing is still in progress. The worst case scenario is that Xbox One X support will come soon after release with some additional features. So far, the game has been tested and certified for Xbox One and Xbox One S... one thing we will support is 4K resolution.
Starpoint Gemini Warlords is created in our own game engine, and that engine is rather friendly with the Xbox One and PC platforms... We made some tests... using our engine to port the game to PS4 would take a very long time so we might die before it is ready… Seriously, it would be doable but the path would really be very long and very expensive. So, despite our willingness to adopt Sony... as well, we made our life in this matter very complicated. That said, our future games will use different engines and that should enable us to add PS4 to our markets.
It's great to see that Starpoint Gemini Warlords is coming to Xbox One as it's quite a deep experience on PC. In general, consoles lack a lot of strategy games so it's always exciting when another one lands on a system. Hopefully the title will live up to expectations when it launches in the coming weeks. Nowadays, the genre has a lot of exemplary experiences like Stellaris.
