Vevo is the latest app to 'retire' from Windows Phone (update)

For some reason, Windows Phone just cannot catch a break lately. Over the weekend, a few reports have come in noting that Vevo, used for watching "premium official music videos", is no longer available for Windows Phone.

Vevo ( was last updated in June of last year after getting a major overhaul in May to version 3.5. We gave the app and service high marks for design and fluidity in our review at the time.

Pandora, Vevo, Bravo and Telemundo Xbox One apps launched

If you’re a fan of music videos and want to watch your favorite artists on the go, Vevo is a decent app to satisfy those needs. Let’s check out what’s new.

theCHIVE and VEVO apps get a Mango overhaul

Another morning and another round of app updates that feature some Mango goodness. Today we have two apps that feature some big internet media sites: theCHIVE (site) and VEVO (site).

  • theChive - The popular photo and video humor site has an unofficial/official app for Windows Phone and the new v1.2 features fast app switching, optional toast notifications for new posts, optional 2-sided live tile with picture and title of latest post, new search function and your regular mix of fixes and speed improvements.   • VEVO - The trendy music video site has a really nice app for Windows Phone (seriously, check it out) and it just hit v2.0 bringing some awesome Mango features including creating custom playlists, pin any artist/video for quick access to your favorite music, music hub integration and fast app switching. Vevo heads to the Windows Phone Marketplace

Continuing the trend of official apps for Windows Phone 7 (see here and here), the popular video service Vevo has launched their official app today:

"The shiny, fun new app lets you watch and share music videos wherever you are, whenever you want, and allows you to peek in on exclusive video premieres and catch live streaming concerts on the go.

Between Live on Letterman sets with exclusive, intimate performances by artists like Katy Perry and Adele, push notifications to give you a holler when a sweet video premiere or live stream is going down and fun bits of trivia while you wait for items to quickly load, VEVO’s bringing you the latest in music videos in the best way we know how."

The app even features HD video playback and the ability to share your finds via Facebook or Twitter, which should make many folks happy. Vevo is of course free in the Marketplace right here [Update: app is now live]
