Toshiba TG01 poised for a Verizon launch?

Let's play our favorite game: Guess the carrier. For those of you who don't work in cell phone stores, the photo you see above from Phone Arena is of a CelleBrite unit, which transfers info from one phone to another (presumably) pretty seamlessly. Note the "source model" here is the Toshiba TG01 (See our latest hands-on), and it's said that this one's from a Verizon store. Far-fetched? Not really. Remember that we've already seen a CDMA version slide through the feds.
If this pans out, it would give Big Red a pair of black slab Windows phones -- the TG01 and the HTC Imagio. That could be a tough call for VZW customers. On one hand you have the TG01 and its 4.1-inch (resistive) touchscreen and 1GHz Snapdragon processor. On the other hand you have the HTC Imagio, and all the custom ROM hackery that goes along with it.
This also probably all but rules out the HTC HD2 hitting Verizon first, but anything's possible, we guess.

This phone certainly has its attributes. But if you see pitures of the Toshiba TG01 and the HTC HD2 together, it's a no brainer. The HTC HD2 wins it hands down. It also wins in the UI catagory, just to mention one thing. There was a comparison review done online at some other site, I don't recall what it was, but it was a while back. HTC HD2 was an easy choice over the Toshiba. In a way I guess it's nice to see VZW getting this device (maybe), but this just seems like another example of them failing to get the best device on the market. And speaking of good devices, what is up with the HTC Touch Pro 2 (OUT OF STOCK) at VZW?

Yes, more reason why it appears Sprint would get the HD2 first over Vzn. Kinda weird that every time you turn around there's another video review of the HD2 but I've seen virtually nothing on the TG01, got no idea if it has a skinned UI over WM, etc. But 4.1-in with a Snapdragon sounds good, though it needs to be capacitive touch at that size instead of resistive.

Remember 6 months ago when Sprint was the CDMA carrier with all the cool/best phones? Seems like ancient history now. As for the choice between this and the Imagio, that one seems like a no-brainer to me. A chipset that's over 2 years old and was already showing its age last year or brand new speediness? You can always upgrade the shell/UI, but you can't change the phone's inner hardware. Even if the custom ROMs won't be as plentiful as an HTC device there's always SPB Mobile Shell and a few other options.

That screenshot means nothing as the cellbrite is loaded with tons of phones never sold by VZW. It's done that way so when you switch from one carrier to another you don't lose you information. Not saying VZW won't get the phone, but all that picture shows is that the cellbrite in the picture has had a database update.
