Verizon Touch Pro 2 also gets official Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade

Wow, look at that. Not only did the Ozone get its official update, but so didn't the Verizon Touch Pro 2.
That sort of came out of nowhere! We like it.
Changes include:
- OS Upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5
- Updated drivers to support Global VZ Navigator
- TouchFLO 3D Enhancements
Get your download on right here! And big thanks to Biglcny for noticing!
Update: Yes, this does have Sense 2.1 w/ the Weather clock.

Come on Sprint! (said with arms crossed while taping foot on ground)
-
I second the impatient tapping for Sprint's WM 6.5 upgrade. For awhile there Sprint was ahead of the game with all of the great phone releases, but all of a sudden Verizon and AT&T are killing them in the offerings.
-
Why are you waiting for an official upgrade to old software? Get thee to PPCGeeks.

I'm really not liking Sprint right now.
-
I was very excited about this release (going home and downloading it asap), but now feel ripped off considering the list of improvements for Tmobile vs Verizon
-
Grass is always greener: you can also say the T-mo version had way more bugs and issues to fix than the Verizon. Plus, in fairness, we don't have the complete changelog for the Verizon ROM.
-
Yeah I realized that after I posted that
-
Word is the T-Mobile has more goodies in it and the Verizon ROM has been sitting around awhile (Nov). PPCGeeks has already pulled just the new Verizon Radio out for those who don't want the ROM.
-
Have you ripped the new kernel yet Malatesta? v3.04 Nov 23 build date ;)
-
No, I haven't. Too wiped to even *think* of flashing as I have like 2 or 3 major revisions to do already (new sense, import 23518 source files, etc.). Very good information though, guess I'll have to take a look. Thanks for the heads up ;-)
-
The biggest change I've seen so far is that you can now successfully disconnect a call from your Bluetooth headset.
-
I do wonder though, and surprised no one asked this yet? Does this include the Y2K16 bug fix in it? Also wonder if PuriaNs blue taskbar and slider icons will work with this OEM build? I sure hate the green :)
-
I changed the date on mine to tomorrow and txts recieved today say 1/7/10.... so they must have the fix. I just wonder if its the work around or a real fix.
-
just glad to have 6.5 and htc sense and be able to use visual voicemail. the custom roms were all dead to me since the audio output with verizon visual voicemail would not work right with them.... perhaps they can learn from this rom.....
-
Sorry, but the Verizon upgrade is not HTC Sense.
-
I like it, but don't notice a ton of differences. Is there a setting to get the start menu to go honeycomb style like the settings? I haven't played around a ton with it, but I thought that was going to be the way the Start menu was going to be.
-
If it is really "offical", why is the coming from pcdphones and NOT Verizon?
-
I don't know why no one answered (especially since I was wondering the same thing before I got tired of not having the "official" 6.5 and decided to investigate myself). Anyway, if you still want proof that Verizon seems okay with pcdphones, check the "Software Update (MR1)" link on the original Touch Pro's support page.

Anyone else having issues with the clock jumping back an hour or so when unlocking or going to the drop down menu in the upper right corner? Seems to jump back like 1 hour 2 minutes, then roll up to 1 minute ago then roll up to the current time. Annoying
-
That's not an issue, it's on purpose; it's annoying "eye candy." You can find a cab to stop it on XDA or PPCGeeks.
-
I am interested in the suppression of this annoying feature but I couldn't find on XDA or PPCGeeks the cab you're talking about.
Could you give a precise link or two ? Thanks & best rgrds It's about : "Anyone else having issues with the clock jumping back an hour or so when unlocking or going to the drop down menu in the upper right corner? Seems to jump back like 1 hour 2 minutes, then roll up to 1 minute ago then roll up to the current time. Annoying" -
I somehow figured that was it. What the hell were they thinking by having the clock change like that? Thanks
-
With all these official ROM upgrades, it seems like the appropriate time for WMExperts to educate or re-educate people about custom ROMs -- if they're going to wiping their device, they might as well be wiping it for a reason.
-
Does anyone know whether the TP2 will eventually come "out of the box" with WM 6.5 loaded or will WM 6.5 always be an update from the 6.1 factory configuration?
-
It will eventually come with 6.5 out of the box. Shouldn't take long.
-
Has anyone who has upgraded tell if the call quality or the camera issues been fixed?
-
1. Htc touch pro2 is running sense instead of touchflo.
2. It does not run the widgets like in manilla.
3. There is not a setting to change start menu to honeycomb. If you dont like sense goto settings:all settings: Home: click items tab: scroll down to HTC Sense and unclick it. You will not run Sense and you'll have the honeycomb start. -
Why does everyone keep thinking this is HTC Sense? It's not.
-
I upgraded my verizon tp2. It had TF3D, now it has Sense Manila 2.1....

I've experienced terrible battery life following my upgrade (Verizon HTC Touch Pro2) when I enable Bluetooth. When I turn Bluetooth off, my battery life is fine. If Bluetooth is on, then my battery gets wiped out in a few hours. I really hope Verizon will fix this issue soon.

I upgraded my verizon TP2 from WM 6.1 to WM 6.5. Very satisfied with the result. Most importantly, with 6.1, I was unable to use Activesync to sync with the exchange server at work because of some glitch with the security certificate. WM 6.1 did not allow a manual override (which the iPhone and others do). WM 6.5 does allow for a manual override. Huge increase in the phone's functionality for me. The touchflo interface seems much more responsive and smooth. The one demerit -- I haven't found a way to display the battery status on the top bar, or anywhere on the main start screen. Maybe there's a way to do it, but if so, it seems deeply hidden.
-
Upgraded 2 day ago. No problems and only took about 10 minutes. My battery status on the top bar does display. GPS and weather is much improved and battery life seems much better.
-
Display Battery on status bar in Touch Pro 2. I cannot find a way to do this and it's driving me nuts. This is such a basic and important feature....WTF?
-
You can display the battery level on the touch pro 2 by going to settings/ then to all settings/ clocks and alarms/ then the more tab, there will be a checkbox you have to deselect that displays the clock on the upper title bar of the phone when you get rid of this check mark it will remove the clock and replace it with the battery icon on the top title bar. this was done with a touch pro2 updated to Windows Mobile 6.5. hope this helps.
-
Since the new upgrade to 6.5 my phone will not sync via USB with Active Sync 4.5....any thoughts or suggestions? I get a connection error every time, it won't even connect via Blue Tooth....Exchange serve sync is fine. ps...I reinstalled active sync, already. Thanks for any help you can give.

p.s.s.
I am using a Verizon TP2 -
My default location is Panama City, FL. As I move around the local area, My Location changes as to be expected. But, looking at the World Clock settings, Panama City shows in the Eastern Time Zone instead of Central. My Location shows the correct time but if I switch it to Panama City, I get an hour added to it. Running a VZ TP2 with WinMo 6.5.
-
If you do not display the clock in the title bar, then the battery will display.

Has anyone figured out how to get internet sharing to work with the Touch Pro 2 on Win.Mob. 6.5?
