LineBirds has had success over on the iPhone and Djinnworks is hoping to see similar success by bringing the popular game to the Windows Phone platform. LineBirds is an obstacle course type game where you try to navigate your bird through a maze of lines and obstacles.
The goal of the game is to navigate your bird the furthest through the maze. Brush one of the lines and all you'll loose is a few feathers. If it's more than just a glancing touch, game over. You also have moving dangers to avoid (airplanes) that will ruin your day as well.
Continued after the break.
The main menu of LineBirds is laid out simple with options to play the game, access options (sound/music on or off) and access the tutorial. When you go to play the game, you will have options as to which bird you'll be controlling and the game difficulty level. The game has five birds that become unlocked as you progress in the game.
Controlling the bird is simple. Tap and hold the lower right corner of the screen to have your bird elevate in flight. Release your hold and the bird descends. Once you have three kernels of bird seed, if you tap and hold the lower left corner of the screen the birds special ability kicks in.
The special ability comes into play after you catch three kernels of bird seed that is mysteriously floating in the air. Each bird has a special ability ranging from invisibility to time warp to explosion.
Game play with LineBirds is easy to pick up but challenging to master. You really have to time your flight elevation just right to avoid the lines. One little distraction from the game and you'll find your self crashing into the lines. LineBirds is a great game for those like concentration and timing challenges. Graphically well presented with wonderful bird animations and a nice looking graph paper background, LineBirds is a very good Windows Phone game.
There is a trial version available for LineBirds to let you try before you buy. The full version will run you $1.99 and you can download LineBirds here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
