Last week Microsoft announced a wave of new features on the horizon for Xbox One, for those enlisted in the Xbox Insider Program. While many of these in-progress features have since rolled out to Alpha ring users, some still remain absent from current preview builds.
"Do Not Disturb," a previously announced feature, has now made its arrival on Xbox One consoles, once again for those in the Alpha preview ring. When enabled, incoming social notifications will be muted for your profile, while remaining online and notifying other Xbox Live users. However, system-level notifications such as Achievements break through this barrier, essentially cutting out the clutter that comes with Xbox social features.
This addition will be especially welcomed by content creators, such as live streamers who capture a direct feed from their console. The feature also pairs nicely with a quiet night of gaming, without the distractions that come with internet access.
To get hands-on with Do Not Disturb yourself, ensure your console is running the latest Alpha ring build available via the Xbox Insider Program. While still pre-release, enabling the feature will display a notifier to all Xbox One users, Xbox Insiders or not, viewing your profile. No update was released to enable this feature, meaning a quick restart is all that's required.
