Check out the Windows 10 VLC app running on Xbox One, due later this summer

The leader of the VLC development team has posted an image of the Windows 10 version of the media player running on the Xbox One. That version of the app is expected to be made available later this summer.

VideoLAN posted the first public open beta for VLC on Windows 10 for PC and Mobile earlier today. In a blog post, VideoLAN's presdent Jean-Baptiste Kempf stated the app would be made available for the Xbox One when the console begins accepting third-party apps in its store. That feature is expected to be a part of the big Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is scheduled for August 2.

The app is also expected to be compatible with the Surface Hub and Microsoft HoloLens. In addition, the VLC apps for Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 RT and Windows Phone 8.1 are expected to get an update sometime in July.
