Jet Ball busts bricks as today's AdDuplex HERO App

Jet Ball is a fast-paced, brick-busting Windows Phone game, designed in the spirit of the classic arcade game Arkanoid. The game includes 145 gaming levels, gobs of power-ups and power-downs and four difficulty levels. Jet Ball also comes in as today's AdDuplex HERO App.

The HERO App program is a promotional campaign for Windows Phone and Windows developers on the AdDuplex Network. The program has changed slightly from last year and partners AdDuplex with AppDeals, TechRewards{.nofollow} and Windows Central to deliver a host of benefits to the top apps and games each month. Our role in the HERO App campaign is to offer a little exposure to these titles by sharing them with you, our readers.

Jet Ball greets you with a main menu that covers the essentials with options to start gameplay, access the gaming options, opt-out of ad support ($1.99) and view your high scores. Gaming options include sound and music levels, along with options to turn on/off hints, floating bricks and automatic fire.

Jet Ball

Gameplay is spread out across 145 levels that are divided into chapters. You will have the choice of four difficulty levels that determines your ball speed. Jet Ball has Slow, Normal, Fast and Extreme difficulties.

Along with the large collection of gaming levels, Jet Ball also has more than 30 power-ups and power-downs that will appear during gameplay to give you an edge or make gameplay more challenging. The power-ups include the likes of a rocket launcher, acid spiral and larger paddle. The power-downs include a chaos feature that shuffles the bricks and a smaller paddle.

Gameplay falls in line with your typical brick-busting arcade game. You have a paddle positioned at the bottom of the gaming screen and a collection of bricks at the top. Tap the screen to launch a ball into play and tap/slide the paddle to bounce the ball towards the bricks, keeping it in play. Let a ball pass your paddle and go out of play, you lose a life. Run out of lives and the game is over.

If you have the floating bricks turned on, a series of bricks will rotate around the main collection of bricks that will deflect your ball. If you have the automatic fire turned on, when you collect a rocket bonus or acid shooter bonus, rockets and acid streams will shoot from your paddle. If the automatic fire is turned off, you will have to fire these power-ups manually. The pace of the game does have a little zip and the auto fire does come in handy.

Jet Ball

Along with the power-ups and power-downs, you will also find a nice assortment of brick styles. Some shatter in one hit, others will take multiple hits and you will also find a few that act more as pinball bumpers than bricks. These bumper brick types will give your ball a boost of speed and often alter the path of the ball.

All in all, Jet Ball is a fun arcade-styled Windows Phone game. Graphics are colorful, the levels offer a healthy amount of variety to keep the game from going stale too quick and gameplay is challenging. The free Windows Phone game is ad supported with full-screen ads that pop up from time to time. If you prefer, you can opt out of the ad support for $1.99 via in-app purchase.
