What you need to know

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter from Activision.
  • It's getting new maps and a new mode on November 8.
  • Instead of a season pass, it has seasonal battle passes like Fortnite.
  • You can purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for $60 through Amazon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter from Activision. It ditches the season pass in favor of battle passes for each season. This means that while certain players get progression perks, everyone has access to the same maps and the community isn't fragmented.

On Friday, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting a new multiplayer map called "Shoot House," a new Ground War map called "Krovnik Farmland," and a new mode called "Hardpoint." Many of you may recognize the last one if you're familiar with the Call of Duty franchise. The goal is to secure a point on the map and repel it from the opposing team. It's a lot like King of the Hill in the Halo games.

In Windows Central's review, James Bricknell wrote Call of Duty Modern Warfare "feels like a return to form that made Infinity Ward such a name in first-person games. The story is good, though hampered by Infinity Ward trying a little too hard to be edgy. I don't like the term edgy, but it fits. You can make people think without making them feel gross. It's a fine line, and one I don't believe Infinity ward entirely walked correctly."

You can get the game for $60 on Amazon or the Microsoft Store. However, there are other, more expensive editions, which give you access to more options.
