Dragon Ball Project Z is the RPG fans have been waiting for, preorder here

Dragon Ball is one of the most popular franchises in the world, but its video game iterations have been relegated to fighting games. However, it looks like that's about to change! Today, Bandai Namco announced "Dragon Ball Game: Project Z" which is an action role-playing game (RPG). You can watch the teaser trailer below. Currently, the title has only been announced for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

The description states, "In this epic retelling, Dragon Ball fans will be able to play through the legendary adventures of the Saiyan named Kakarot — better known as Goku — recounting the beloved story of Dragon Ball Z like never before. Players will experience Goku's quest for power, his thirst for a challenge and, above all, his desire to protect Earth from the most fearsome of villains.

Bandai Namco has partnered with CyberConnect2 and is expected to launch in 2019 with both Japanese and English voiceovers. The dialogues in the Dragon Ball series have always been absolutely hilarious, so hopefully the game will capture that adequately. I personally have never been excited for the Dragon Ball fighting games because of their limited appeal. However, I can't wait to get my hands on this RPG later this year. This is the type of project a lot of Dragon Ball fans were waiting for.

Are you excited for this Dragon Ball game? Let us know. The game is using Unreal Engine so here's hoping that the performance holds up on consoles.

  • OH wow that looks interesting....need more gameplay videos. I hope there is a Robotech game in the works as well!
  • I'll never understand what adults find to enjoy in these kinds of ridiculous and childish cartoons.
  • Because we do. Just because we are adults, doesn't mean we have to let go of everything from our youth or early adulthood. Life is serious enough as it is. When you have kids that love it, it's hard not to stay into it. Besides, why is it such a taboo for adults to love something childish? As long as we take care business, there's no harm in enjoying this type of entertainment. I bet you have something that you enjoy and someone could probably say the same thing about it.
  • I couldn't tell you one thing about Dragon Ball, period. But, as an adult, I do know how I felt when Stick of Truth came out. Happy for the Dragon Ball fans out there. And I do know lots of plain ol working adults that love that show.
  • You are such a fun person.
I'll bet you don't get invited to many parties.
  • The animation looks Amazing!! Definalty need to see more gameplay. Looks like they remastered Scenes from the show.
  • The animation looks great because, like most trailers, we only see the cutscenes. There wasn't any gameplay shown. I'm on the fence. It feels like a TellTale but you play the fight scenes. Everything cool will probably be a cutscene.
