Geometry Wars Retro Evolved once again backward compatible with Xbox One

If you're a big fan of the Geometry Wars series of games, you'll be happy to know that Geometry Wars Retro Evolved for the Xbox 360 is once again available as a backward compatible game for the Xbox One.

Geometry Wars Retro Evolved was included in the original lineup of backward compatible games when the feature launched for the Xbox One late last year. However, Xbox's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb confirmed via Twitter that it is now playable, indicating that it must have been quietly pulled from the list at some point.

In any case, if you hadn't yet tried the fast-paced geometric arcade shooter, you can snag it on the Xbox Store at the link below.

  • Just stinks no street fighter V on Xbox, game rocks online vs others
  • Yep, this is really my biggest (and really only) disappointment with Xbox.
  • Geometry Wars 2 was initially compatible, I thought, not 1.
  • Nope, only ever 1.
  • I love this game.it needs to come to windows 10. It's not graphically intensive for my surface right?
  • If you have a Surface Pro, should be able to grab Geometry Wars 3 from Steam right now.
  • I'm trying to support windows 10 ecosystem. I have tons of steam games but I'm slowly backing windows 10 so other devs will follow suit
  • If I owned this via the Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged compilation disc, would it play on the Xbox One?
