Green Lumia 1520 is no longer an AT&T exclusive; now on sale in Germany

Until today, if you wanted to buy a green-colored Lumia 1520, you had to go get one from AT&T. That has now changed as a retailer in Germany has started selling the green Windows Phone device, which also has some other features that the AT&T version does not have.

The retail website is Notebookbilliger.de, and it is currently selling the smartphone for 419 euros (about $510). Its version of the 6-inch Lumia 1520 has 32GB on onboard storage, versus just 16GB for the AT&T model. The German version also has built-in Qi wireless charging support, which is not available on the AT&T version. Finally, the German model supports UMTS LTE wireless frequencies making it ideal for those in Germany (as opposed to using one with AT&T's unique LTE bands).

The German green Lumia 1520 still has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz quad-core processor inside, along with 2GB of RAM and a 20MP rear camera.

Check out our hands-on video above with the green Lumia 1520 to get an idea of what to expect should you order one!

  • The green version isn't available anymore thru AT&T online.
  • At&t killed the device a month ago.
  • They killed the color not the device.Lol;)
  • Well at&t customer rep told me they are selling what's left. So i think they really killed the device, here in P.R. They have no 1520's in store.
  • You're taking the word of a rep?Doesn't make any sense at the moment to kill one of their flagship WPs off.Especially sense we haven't seen anything in the pipeline to replace it.
  • Well its the only flagship WP, and that's why I said here in Puerto Rico they only have on display the 635 and 830 there not offering the 1520 in stores, she told me that when this happens the only way to buy it is online.
  • Your "rep" didn't tell you that. You read it on the internet like everyone else, I'm betting.
  • No once she told me I searched but found nothing.
  • Yes I got one of the last exclusive Green phones 2 weeks ago. Yippie ki yay!
  • Its discontinued in uk :(
  • Congratulations, Germany! You get the phone America wants! :)
  • I still curse AT&T for removing Qi. Every single day when I plug in because of their stubbornness and ignorance. Really hoping the 830 Qi support signals the end of that nonsense.
  • That's why I got my black 1520 from B&H. It has QI charging, 32GB, and its still works on AT&T's network.
  • I got a very gently used mint AT&T green 1520 off eBay for $350.  It's basically a holdover for the 9 or 10 months until W10 comes out with (hopefully) a followup to the 1020.  I wanted to use the new camera software, and it doesn't look like any of the good stuff is coming to the 1020.  It was about $200 cheaper than the best deal on a 1520.3 I could find, and it's green.  I decided it was worth the sacrifice, I don't find the missing 16GB to be an issue, given WP8.1's excellent SDCard support.  But the lack of Qi vexes me...
  • Amen.
  • Yes it works in att, but I bet you it doesn't got LTE connectivity... I had to sell my global edition more than a year ago 'cause it does not support 1700 lte band use in US... And bought the US version.
  • I just bought a $9 Qi charging pad. Connect it under my case and charge wirelessly all I want. Still sucks that AT&T stripped it. But for little $$ I can still use my charging plates.
  • I wanted 1520 Green but not available in any SG carriers. So sad :(
  • Define "America", please.
  • Imagine that. Been quite on the denim front for a few days.
  • Whiners for new flagships start your comments from here----
  • Yupp need a flagship
  • Probably won't see another flagship until WP10.
  • What else do people want from a flagship that the 930 doesn't have?
  • MicroSD, Glance, availability in US...
  • Heard about Lumia Icon..??
  • you mean the discontinued verizon exclusive with outdated firmware?
  • Have that on my 1520
  • Better Processor..RAM..SD Support..Glance..!! And I need the Notification Lights..Fingerprint Scanner..More Sensors..Gesture Support..3D Display..On-The-Go Support..Much better FFC..Front Flash..Better Marketing of the device and finally a much better OS..!!!!! Not to mention the removal of the 930's screen discoloration issue and it's overheating..!!
  • We want gorilla glass 4
  • You apparently can't get a 930 in the US. The Icon would count for verizon users, except its discontinued already and WAY behind in updates. Its still on Cyan.
  • It's still on Black, they've been waiting all this time for Cyan
  • WP 10 Flagship must be - 64 bit, 3GB RAM, SnapDragon 810, Wireless AC, 5MB front cam, 20MB back cam, 32GB storage, Micro SD expandable up to 128GB, awesome speakers like HTC, Gorilla Glass 3, 2k display, 5 or 5.3 inch, 3000 mah battery or higher, 3.0 USB or any other for faster charging and data transfer, Aluminium sides only, 2 mic is enough, Glance please! An organize Settings page!!! Smoother animation when launching apps and games, Cortana's interest and notes to be able to sync with Windows 10 on PC, Live Lock screen full version, 5 tabs to be available on the notification center...hmm... That's all I guess. Is it too much? Hehe :P
  • It must also have the ability to remote start my car and go down to the refrigerator and bring me a drink, and make me dinner.
  • Lol
  • How the heck a phone gonna make for u dinner???? Hahahahaha might happen if Microsoft do a big project with those robot makers.
  • For 288282$
  • While at it with 64bit processor, ask for 8GB RAM(NT kernel can support it so why not?), 10500mAH battery, 4k display, 20MP FFC, 50MP back camera, USB 4.0(we can connect the cable both the ways!!!), Jarvis(the one from Iron Man) instead of Cortana but with Cortana's voice, actionable glance and 3D touch(I want the screen clean!!!). All in a 5" phone which must be the slimmest and the lightest Lumia ever!!! Also dust proof, water proof, fire proof, bullet proof(everything but another Lumia proof), dual xenon flash with 4 LED flash... In a budget range much preferred :-P something at the range of Lumia 540 ;-)
  • I broke that kind yesterday..Sorry it was the only prototype..!!
  • fire proof and bullet proof??? LOL!!!
  • That would give WP10 cutting edge technology. Which goes against everything Microsoft stands for.
  • Once W10 comes out I'd consider getting a device this size.
  • It was availiable in Germany weeks ago, but ok
  • You should have tipped us then instead of making a comment ;)
  • Lol Daniel..!! I tipped about the HERE Maps thing few minutes back though..Was it interesting..??
  • Haha ok, gotta remind it for the next time ;)
  • They're still selling 1520s?
  • C'mon it's Microsoft's flagship..!! What are ye talking about..??
  • They are off the shelf in Hong Kong, at least. Only L930 is available.
  • Now Microsoft urges to buy the 830..730..535 instead..!!
  • Same here in malaysia, not available on the shelves anymore BUT you can still buy them, they are hidden though. You need to ask them you want a 1520 otherwise they wouldnt even mention about it.
  • Would this 1520 support tmobile lte bands? I know prior you had to buy a 1520.3.
  • You need the 1520.3. I got mine from B&H for $400 I think.
  • Do you miss out on any tmobile specific functions?
  • For T Mobile you will need the, Lumia 1520.3.
  • If I lived in Germany I could have this phone and charge it on my Qi chargers...Must be nice....And no, I don't want the 1520.123456789 on Newegg.
  • Why didn't you just get your unlocked...
  • I don't actually own one...Still rocking my 920 since there's no suitable replacement on AT&T that has: Micro SD, Qi charging and a 1080p screen...The 830 is really nice but not much of an upgrade due to the crappy processor and 720p screen....So, I wait until next Fall...Longest...wait....ever.
  • I'm in the same boat, still have my 920 because there's just not a worthy successor, only the 1520.3 and it's to hard or to expensive so not yet, still in the wait but I won't hold my breath :/
  • I got the 1520.3 for 490 in August. Not too bad
  • So now its exclusive to Germany and at&t
  • actually its exclusive to Germany apparently. It looks like AT&T no longer offers it.
  • Awww, would have want one, have 830 now. Never mind. ^_^
  • They stopped selling the 1520 in the UK... :-(
  • If only I could purchase a green 1520 from AT&T now :-(
  • Try best buy online they have the green model
  • One sentence version: Germany is now selling the RM-937 International 1520 in green also.
  • Nonsense to have a color exclusive...
  • Yellow is better than green
  • You go girl... Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • How do preferences of colors helps you in deciding that s/he is a boy or a girl..??
  • Most would relate pink/yellow as a feminine color. Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • how is a color better than another color lol
  • I own a yellow Lumia 1520. Looks amazing!
  • I have both, switched from yellow to green. If I had a dollar for every moron that thought it was a Samsung or iPhone plus based on the size, I'd be so rich. The general public is really a bunch of technology morons. That's how ATT gets away at stripping these devices down and pushing their own agenda.
  • I want pink 1520, just to be different! Or moave lol
  • I'm still waiting for this one in India
:( Stuck With My Yellow 920...
  • Why is it only available from a single retailer? It's a shame particularly as they do not seem to ship internationally.
  • I want it NOW ! (No I don't have enough with my red Lumia 1520)
  • I've tried to buy just the housing off eBay to be able to switch from white to green on my existing 1520. Maybe this will signal that becoming a possibility.
  • Endlich!!!
    Finally!!!
  • I have an AT&T 1520 Green (Mint Condition) 4 sale.
  • 16gb or 32? No Qi charging right? All of them have micro SD card?
  • Fxxk Merkel :D
  • Giev green L1520!
  • Only Microsoft, with a marketshare of 2.5% and falling would think of having device colour exclusivity on top of their stupid regional and carrier exclusivity. Its this kind of stupid behaviour that has crippled WP growth for the past 4+ years. Really hard to believe the WP team is still employed after failing so miserably for years.
  • Do you really think that the Windows Phone development team goes into this thinking, "what can we make for AT&T?" Odds are, the exlcusivity deals are worked out on a higher level, where they care more about securing a higher revenue floor throguh the exclusivity deal.
  • Unfortunately for them the exclusivity deals only looks sweet on paper, whereas in reality not-so much.
  • The 1520 is borderline obsolete now, between the release of the Note 4 and the opcoming Snapdragon 810 (and, with it, we hope for a 1530). This seems like odd timing that makes me wonder if Microsoft did this becuase AT&T planned to stop carrying it.
  • While your observations and opinions seem valid yet biased, perhaps even blown up, and given that Microsoft bumps things up incrementally, I'm confident the 1520 will be a solid phone for at least another year if not longer.
  • At&t took the 1520 off their display shelves months ago in Chicago.
  • I wouldn't call observation of technology a bias. It's pretty well-known that these niche devices don't have long shelf lives at carriers as it is, so when you combine that with the facts of Microsoft's likely desire to get Nokia-branded devices off of shelves and the lack of interest in Windows Phone by U.S. customers and carriers, the 1520 is staring firmly at obsolescence.   The 1520 would work fine for someone to buy it now, likely for the full 2-year time of a standard contract. However, I'm speaking more from a retailer's standpoint, and they aren't likely to hang on to the older versions of devices from the underperforming mobile OS. If you go to AT&T's stie now, the 1520 is the oldest WP device listed, and it's about 13.5 months old. Then it's the July-released 635 GoPhone and a the 830 and One (M8), which aren't even 2 months old yet. All of that is partially because of how awful the Windows Phone launches of 2013 were, but it's also because AT&T probably doesn't love holding onto those phones that no one is buying (similar to how Verizon dumped the Icon after about 9-10 months).
  • Poor marketing that's about what I can deduce from it.
  • I guess you mean notebooksbilliger.de and not notebookbilliger.de?
  • I have the AT&T 1520 in green, while my wife is sporting the red one. The red one was mine until I dropped it and promptly went to AT&T and said "gimme another one" the sales lady said " well we have one green..." I didnt let her complete the sentence... I had the screen replaced on the red one and moved my wife from her 920 to it. Her only complaint is the lack of QI charging.
  • Can I buy it from France?
  • In Chicago at&t is finished carrying the 1520, except what they still have left in the store inventory. They haven't displayed them for months now.
  • I've been to 3 AT&T stores in and around Chicago the past month - the last one being the one in Woodfield mall, I've seen 1520's (especially the green one) displayed in all stores.    I would not be surprised if they do stop carrying them though, it's a year old now.
  • Every store I've been in recently has the 830 on display. Before that, the 635 or whatever 6 series device that was out at the time, was the only other WP device on display. I can't remember the last time I saw a1520 on display at an at&t store, except downtown at the flagship store.
  • So basically, this version is cheaper and nicer than the AT&T version. Not a bad thing, but interesting nonetheless.
  • I got the Green One and it is stunning. I got rid of my Android device as my smartphone since I still have a tablet I use with android OS on it. So I wanted to change it up a bit. And I honestly can't see much wrong besides some apps that are missing and some software limitations. Other then that the Lumia 1520 is a beast of a phone.
  • Wow. Amazing news.
  • I have the black but the green is pretty nice hopefully it catches someone's eye Germany
  • Does the green one finally fix all the touch screen problems? I had black, white, and red, and all of them were terrible.
  • One of the previous updates fixed the screen, can't remember which exactly, I lost track in the developer preview.
  • Now bring the "brilliant blue" lumia 730/735 to other countries
  • I ran outta memory today on my shitty Green ATT 1520, even with my 64gb memory card. Pisses me off they cut this thing down so bad. Love windows phone, hate ATT skimping to make short term profits.
  • Lucky bastards. That is exactly the phone I've been holding out for. Please sell it direct here in the U.S., Microsoft! - with the 1520.3 band configuration.
  • ok
