Thunderbolt 5 docks are taking over where Thunderbolt 4 left off, bringing way faster transfer speeds, more charging power, and superior external display support for the latest and greatest connectivity standard. Wavlink's Thunderbolt 5 Thunderlight dock is the latest unit I've tested, and it's also the most affordable option that I can safely recommend.
The price gets even better during President's Day weekend at Amazon, where it's now $45 off the regular price. That drops it to $254.99 (a crazy price for a TB5 dock), and it doesn't look like the deal will last long as it's already 72% claimed at the time of writing.
With 11 downstream ports (plus one host TB5 port), 140W of charging power, and triple 4K@144Hz external display support, this is a superb Thunderbolt 5 laptop dock that costs less than the competition.
Why is Wavlink's Thunderbolt 5 Thunderlight laptop dock my favorite budget option?
I've tested and reviewed a whole bunch of Thunderbolt 5 docks as they've arrived on the market, but none has been more affordable than Wavlink's Thunderlight. It might not have a built-in M.2 SSD slot or Thunderbolt Share hosting capabilities like some pricier alternatives, but that shouldn't matter for the vast majority of users.
What really matters is that the dock boasts 11 downstream ports (plus one host Thunderbolt 5 hookup for your laptop), including UHS-II SD/microSD card readers, USB-A, 2.5Gb Ethernet, and 3.5mm audio.

The dock's three downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports are where the real magic happens. Each supports transfer speeds that are twice as fast as Thunderbolt 4, effectively allowing you to connect up to three 4K displays and run them at a smooth 144Hz each.
Cutouts on the top and sides of the dock promote better cooling, and a silent internal fan keeps the chipset cool. Unless you want native video out support (like HDMI or DisplayPort), Thunderbolt Share compatibility, or a built-in M.2 SSD slot, this is the best value Thunderbolt 5 dock around right now.
And the fact that you can save $45 for a very limited time (it's already 72% claimed at Amazon at the time of writing) makes it even better, dropping it to just $254.99.
