Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade for a select number of older Windows Phones that are not in the Insider program. If you want to see if your specific Windows Phone can get the upgrade, we have the list of those devices as provided by Microsoft.

The list includes:

  • Lumia 1520
  • Lumia 930
  • Lumia 640
  • Lumia 640XL
  • Lumia 730
  • Lumia 735
  • Lumia 830
  • Lumia 532
  • Lumia 535
  • Lumia 540
  • Lumia 635 1GB
  • Lumia 636 1GB
  • Lumia 638 1GB
  • Lumia 430
  • Lumia 435
  • BLU Win HD w510u,
  • BLU Win HD LTE x150q,
  • MCJ Madosma Q501

Keep in mind that even if your phone is on this list, you may not be getting the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade today. As Microsoft itself states (opens in new tab):

"The availability of Windows 10 Mobile as an upgrade for existing Windows Phone 8.1 devices varies by device manufacturer, device model, country or region, mobile operator or service provider, hardware limitations and other factors. To check if your device is supported and other important information, visit your device manufacturer's website."

You can also download the official Upgrade Advisor app from the Windows Store (opens in new tab) to see if your phone is getting the upgrade today.

  • So no chances old devices like 1320 and all getting it, right? Just confirming?
  • I think .. 1320 will be for next wave of upgrade. Posted via Windows Central App for Windows 10
  • Yups..they are 2nd gen phones which have old hardware unlike the x30 or after series..x20 series will get it later..
  • As per the blog it doesn't seem other lumiaa will get w10m ever..
  • The 1320 didn't get 8.1 GDR2, what makes you think it will get 10?
  • Propbably that almost no Windows Phone devices ever saw Windows Phone 8.1, especially Lumia's. Only the Lumia 540, 640 and 640 XL got that update because they where released with that build on it. Microsoft announced that that update only applied to some hardware combination and was no indication of end-of-support.
  • WP 8.1 was available for EVERY WP out there. Maybe you are confusing that with WP 8.1 update 2 ;)
  • 8.1 was cyan and 8.1 update was denim for certain handsets.

  • Bot for the 810...
  • Not*
  • Lumia 635 512 RAM one of there oldest devices got win 8.1 and the test version of win 10 so if that can run it surely the 1320 could.
  • 730 also didn't get GDR2..
  • Even Lumia 730 dosen't got Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 2 ,But it's in the list. Posted From WC app for Windows 10 Mobile on my NOKIA Lumia 730.
  • My 1320 received the 8.1 and Denim?!
  • These are all with Newer Quad Core Processors, L1320 had Dual core processor. thats my way of seeing it.
  • Aside from the glaring omission of the 929.
  • What do you mean "glaring"? Verizon doesn't want to lift a finger to help consumers avoid feeling like they need to purchase another phone. Verizon does not care about you.
  • Lumia 435 has a dual core SD200 so it's not about the amount of cores but about the generation of the processor as it seems Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Do you have any source? Link? For the next wave
  • There will be no second wave. This list is all. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • you kept my hope alive......!!. but any approx idea when we can expect second wave for W10 upgrade from "upgrade advisor" for lumia 1320???
  • Well i was wrong.. There wont be any second wave.
It requires newer hardware with atleast quad core cpu. Reason for omission was many insiders reported that update dint ran wrll on their handset. Well i guess its tym for new hardware. Each handset has 24 months lifecycle and these devices got their enough share of updates. X20 series got 4 updates in 2 years (2013-2015). Posted via Windows Central App for Windows 10/Android
  • L720 crying in the corner
  • I have the preview on L720. It's about as smooth as 8.1 except for the ocassional crashes. I knew this day might come when I installed the preview for the first time because even 8.1 had a large performance hit on dual core + 512 MB devices.
  • My L1320 is heartbroken :'(
  • Lumia Icon ? Samsung Ativ SE ? I undertand Microsoft push to buy a new L950 and leave this great cell phone?
  • Install insider preview
  • well theres a reason why im gonna get a moto x pure.
  • Can you confirm this is THE list of phones that will be eligible? That's how I read it, but I could be interpreting it incorrectly
  • As in, other devices will not be added - Won't have an effect on me, but interested to know
  • Surprise, surprise, the Lumia 822, 928, and Icon are not on the list. Screw you, Verizon.
  • General question. I've got the AT&T variant of the 1520. Downloaded the UpdateAdvisor app and it said my phone is up to date and don't need to update. I'm on the Technical Preview slow ring so I have the latest build on my 1520: 10.0.10586.164 Does this mean that this version (.164) is what's going out to people with 8.1 that's on the list for the upgrade. Just need a little clarity.
  • In laymen terms you are already on WM10 and latest production build at that. So your phone is up to date.
  • Right. There's a new article on here, which will clear everyone's doubts with FAQ. Go check it out
  • Read this Q&A: http://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-offers-more-info-how-windows-10-...
  • Even though your comment is factual, I downvoted it to express my disapproval of this fact.

  • >Surprise, surprise, the Lumia 822, 928, and Icon are not on the list. Screw you, Verizon. I looked at this list knowing that the ICON would NOT be in the first batch.... I agree but, would have much harsher words towards Verizon...but, it's a public site and I dont want to get banned... :-\
  • No one cares talk **** all you want they deserve it
  • I have a 928 and I got the 10586.164 update yesterday after I switched to Production builds. I don't know why it's not on the list.
  • I have Lumia 822 and Lumia 535. Both of them run on Insider priview and has the .164 production version. The Lumia 822 even though is a very old phone runs the Windows 10 as good as the Lumia 535. I am using the 822 as my daily driver as I like its smaller size
  • Are your cameras working on the 535... mine are broken by the latest Camera App (when launching skype video etc). ?
  • This is the list for the first wave & there is no statement that more devices won't be added. They don't have the 920 or 925 on there, which would be ridiculous considering their popularity. The same could be said for the 530 which sold well in many markets.
  • I just ran Upgrade Advisor on my 630 and it said that the device doesn't support W10M. Read on WinBeta right now that these old devices won't get it. They are on Insider but Microsoft says the performance wasn't good enough for general public.
  • It's pretty good, bar the silly bugs.. there is hope for a wave 2 roll out. But not holding my breath.
  • What are you talking im running it on my 620 since last week and it has been always been adviable since the windows insider app came out.
  • The 635 the 4g variant of the 630 runs win 10 smoothly without any flaws hopefully it gets the official win 10 otherwise it can stay on the insider fast ring version. Performs with out error.
  • 512 MB RAM devices arent supported. 1 Gb variant of 635 is only supported. Posted via Windows Central App for Windows 10
  • The funny thing is, the build prior to .164 ran quite well on the L925, but that Production Ring release has turned what was fairly smooth experience into a rectangular slab of frustration. I almost want to ask if Microsoft purposely introduced issues into the previous release to make .164 the laggy mess that it is just so they could reduce the number of supported devices.
  • Read the forums. All the Lumia with WP 8.1 can upgrade to WP10 this will be released in two parts, the first for newest phones as you see in the list and the second part will be one or two months later. If they could not update the 925 and 920 to WP 10 Microsoft never have let be in the Insider program. I have a 920 and I'm quiet  waiting for the next month.
  • That is old news. MS has revised the device list and rollout process. Jan expected rollout came in march. No news whether 2nd wave will happen or not.
  • Pound it bro I got Lumia 920 too
  • I have a 925 which did update windows 10.
  • When for 520?
  • Soon lol
  • When for my HTC S620?
  • If the 1020 isn't there then I see no hope for the 520. Maybe more will be added later??
  • Hope it will
  • You could always just install the Windows Insider app and join the Release Preview ring and voila. I was testing on a 520 since the original technical previews on the Fast ring. It's never been close to perfect, but it worked. I also updated my old 920 and it's fine. I'm not sure I'll update my wife's old 1020 quite yet, though. But really, Those devices are all backup devices now that we've both moved on to 950 devices anyway and very much enjoying our new phones. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Will not work once Redstone is out
  • Just pull it down with the Insider program.  But beware, I had a 1020 I ran with W10M.  It was SLOW.  I'm using a 950 now and don't miss the camera at all.  Upgrade if you can.
  • Or if you have a 1020 roll back to 8.1. Best thing I ever did.
  • Or perform hard reset before upgrading to 10 and when on 10 do it again and almost to no issues
  • Good advise, and when you returne to 8.1 let your 1020 sync everything befor going to win 10. (i let my 1020 on 8.1 for some days befor going forward for win 10)
  • Funny how when I bought the 1020 Micro$oft was saying it would be upgraded to WM10.  Same thing for my Wife's 650.  Neither are on the list.  We were to purchase my daughter a 950 but with yesterdays news went with Apple (she's happy), my wife has been looking for a phone for a couple of weeks and dropped WM off the list. I've now been burned 3 times by Micro$oft with Windows Phone/Mobile in saying it will be upgradable.  NEVER have they allowed a release from x.y to (x+1).0 and my guess is that will contine.  I've stopped all WM (UWA) development and switched to Android and iOS, at least they have an upgrade path (Apple and Google/Nexus). Micro$oft could have at least offered 50% off a WM10 for those they broke their word to.
  • I can't blame you bitfidler.  MSFT obviously doesn't see the mobile platform as high a priority right now, as their other products lines.  They have "bigger fish to fry" right now, and I get it.  Anyone who uses WM is finding it hard to justify continued use, and MSFT isn't helping, as you pointed out.  For me, as a MSFT partner with most of my income tied to them, I will stick with it for now because I need them more than they need me.  Too much of my software and services invested in their platform.   But if that weren't the case, and i was just looking for the best mobile platform for personal productivity, W10M would not be on the list of choices .
  • Ya! No update for Lumia 520...!
  • It shows 520 isn't supported yet. Will it come to the supporting list anyhow?
  • Yes but only in 2 nd wave update
It will take 1-2 months more atleast
  • If I were you and you liked the 520 I would get something like the 640. Its a far better experience. Esecially on WP10.
  • Available in india
  • Yup. For all the devices too.
  • Kon sa phone hai pe tmhare pass? .164 build kaisa chalta hai 535 mai koi idea?
  • 520's not there... Damn..
  • Dont count on it...Microsoft SAID that 512mb devices were not getting W10m
  • Did they though?
  • Could you post a quote on that please?
  • https://twitter.com/windowsinsider/status/710549849406513152?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw From windows insider We do not have plans to put W10M on devices with 512 MB ^TJ
  • It's curious that they won't extend W10m to 512 mb Windows Phones when 512 MB is the minumum W10m needs for Internet Of Things (IoT) devices for display support https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn915086(v=vs.85).aspx    Oh well.
  • Downloading W10! Lumia 930
  • Don't get too excited.
  • Let us know if camera records stereo sound or mono only.
  • My Lumia 535 is in list hope the update available In india
  • Download upgrade adviser app by googling it..then you will get update..
  • Don't mention here Google, these ppl will eat you for lunch
  • Even though Google always destroys Bing for search results outside the US. I really do try to use it via Cortana on my mobile, but I often end up typing "google" just to launch Google (and let MS know I prefer Google) so I don't have to keep wading through bollocks results from bloody Bing.
  • i cant found the app in the store, how can i download the upgradeadvisor?   lUMIA 640
  • My lumia 535 is updated in India
  • How is it working on lumia 535?
  • Guys use this link to get the update advisor...update is only made available once update advisor verifies your phone. You need to check a box within the app to allow the download. https://www.windowscentral.com/e?link=https2F%2Fclick.linksynergy.co...
  • Mine father's 535 shows that it is up to date!!
  • No update available at the moment for 535 india :( how did you got that?
  • Download upgrade advisor and check for updates it will verify ur phone n tells u. And then follow the steps
  • Update available..lumia 545 india
  • I also have 535 and it isn't showing any update , you?
  • Will the HTC one m8 be getting the update at all? I'm using the insider preview but I want the possibility of Redstone builds
  • From reading the MS articles, it sounds like we're out of luck... we're not on the list of phones getting the upgrade, and we're not on the list of phones that will continue getting new builds on Insider. So unless I am misreading something, we can either downgrade to 8.1 or be stuck with our current build on insider.
  • I am so glad I upgraded from my M8 to the L950. HTC stopped supporting the device the moment it was released. Not to mention the huge sacrifice made on that terrible camera. I get it can be frustrating not to get an update but it shouldn't be surprising. If you have the means, I highly recommend the 950. Great experience so far compared to the M8. Performance, camera, glance, daylight screen......
  • The 950 would be fine if Verizon weren't the only provider that I get a signal for out where I live.
  • is the official rollout version same as those with latest insider preview version?? ~DheeraJ~
  • For insider
  • lumia 920 and 1020 are performing fine with the insider builds this is such a bullshit!
  • Agree.
  • Maybe in the next wave.
  • Could someone from Windows Central actually confirm this? Doesn't the following contradict? https://twitter.com/MicrosoftHelps/status/710476046919929856 "... you may keep using your device in an unsupported state. We will not be offering build updates beyond the Current Branch build 10586. At some point in the future these devices will also stop receiving updates to the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build." By "rolling out in waves", do they mean the devices in the supported list right now will receive their updates in waves and the x20 phones can kiss Insider builds goodbye, or do they mean the supported devices list will be updated as part of a future wave?
  • WOW, they have deleted the tweet. FWIW it said that the rollout was going to happen "in waves"

  • So I guess it is the former, ie no more insider builds for 920 etc.. Thanks Microsoft. I'm sure that 430 will run W10M excellently
  • Could be how its worded

Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade for a select number of older Windows Phones that are not in the Insider program.
I rolled my 920 over to production in the insider app and the update is there, so the issue may be in the wording.
  • Tell me about it. I have the 920 and its running smoothly on the lastest isider build so i wonder why they locked us out
