Recently we featured a first look at the Todoist Preview for Windows 10, a new universal app set to launch in the not too distant future from the popular cross-platform service. The app itself was born from the company's acquisition of Taskcrunch for Windows Phone, and it's developer, and we're now beginning to reap the benefits.
There's a whole ton of things that Todoist can do for you in managing your day. Here's one quick tip on how to add a recurring task.
- In any project or your inbox hit the big "+" button in the top right hand corner or the "add task" button to open the new task window.
- Give it a name before going any further.
- In the box that will either say "today" or "no due date" depending on where about's you are adding the task is where you work the magic.
- Simply write "every xxx at yyy" to set the recurring time.
For example to set a recurring task for a Friday at noon simply write "every Friday at 12:00" in the due date box. This will then create the recurring task. It's pretty broad, too, with every day, every second Thursday and such all adding the necessary dates. The beauty is that you just need to type out the instruction instead of going into a calendar, or any menus and having to set anything else up. One command and it'll be there until you remove it.
Of course, this technique will work inside any of Todoists apps, we're just using the new Windows 10 app as an example to show off a feature.

I love to work with the app. I am getting more productive. Thanks for the tip. I was wondering if the inbox has a specific function.
I wish there were tasks in the Outlook Calendar app...
Me too, use tasks a lot on my PC and Tablet IN outlook, would be good to have access on my mobile :)
It's unbelievable how MS screwed it up with tasks on WP... During the old windows mobile days I used outlook tasks for everything and they where fully synchronizable with my windows mobile phone. My WM phone was actually the ultimate device for getting things done. Today I have to use a third party app (todoist) in order to achieve something similar...
I like Todoist because they have the recurring task based on COMPLETION DATE, not just DUE DATE. Imagine having a task for changing your engine oil every 6 months. If you're supposed to change in January, but you're late and change it in February, you don't want the next change month to still be June. It needs to be July. You can accomplish this by typing "every!" with an exclamation point. Wunderlist doesn't have this. They haven't had this for 3 years since I first requested it. The reason I haven't switched to Todoist is: - For reminders, you need to be a Premium member, which have to pay for monthly or annually. - They don't have a Windows 10 Mobile app yet. The 3rd party TaskCrunch app sucks a** visually. My absolutely favorite task management app used to be Astrid on Android. Unfortunately, they got bought up by Yahoo. I used in its place Tasks, which is an Astrid clone.
If MS wants the enterprise then they need something that will integrate with Exchange and Outlook.com backends. I want tasks created in outlook to be available on other platforms.
I miss WinMo days also... but I use 2-Day app because it syncs with my Exchange and is a multi-device app.
