Microsoft officially joins Tumblr, with stories about people and technology

Microsoft may be a little late to the party, but the company has now become the latest business to launch a site on the popular Tumblr microblogging service. The site itself is called "Inspired By", and it offers links to Microsoft's articles about how people use the company's technology to help others.

Microsoft says:

"The page is dedicated to the people who inspire us with their achievements, empowered by technology. These makers, collaborators and do-gooders range from Riley the shark expert to Laila the champion barista and Henry Ford II the bicycle builder. Each embodies the spirit of Microsoft's mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more."

Tumblr first launched in 2007 and currently has over 266 million blogs. It is currently owned by Yahoo, which bought Tumblr in 2013 for $1.1 billion.

  • Just add memes, and we're good.
  • "it is currently owned by Yahoo" Won't be for long, as of this morning's announcement
  • And what's the announcement

  • Lol if only they did that for flickr
  • I can't wait to read blogs about how Microsoft feels that there are microagressions against them in the tech industry.
  • Hey, not all tumblr blogs are SJ bullshit. Mine isn't. :P Some are pr0n. :P (And somehow they keep following me lol)
  • How about updating your app Tumblr? Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Microsoft joins tumblr, tumblr app still not updated since 1857
  • try TBlog, while not as complete as the Android official app(it lacks the latest update with the messaging), the 3rd party app is quite good. It even has an option to set the image download quality. But the gifs added in replies do not move yet, the audios do not play and random text paragraph breaks. Also the developer supports the app
  • ^^^ what the two above said
  • *Follow I'm always looking for motivation.
  • Microsoft need to start including trigger warnings on all its post and ban the word "white" cause its to triggering. All of its post need to include exactly 50/50 representations of: Men/women, gay/straight, trans/cis, otherkin/human, people of colour/people of colour.
They also need to ban all cis white straight people from anything related to their company.
  • Do you yahoo?
  • There was already an official Internet Explorer (Browser you loved to hate) blog AND Windows Phone blog? Not MS' first time at the tumblr rodeo.
