1.18 Caves and Cliffs Update Part Two rolled out to Minecraft players everywhere over the last few weeks, and now Mojang Studios has shifted its focus to polish and quality-of-life improvements while they work on what's coming next to Minecraft. To this end, Mojang Studios has released Minecraft: Java Edition 1.18.1 Release Candidate 2 to test a fix for world chunks occasionally not loading.
This snapshot follows its predecessor with exactly one additional fix for the Caves and Cliffs Update, and as such is a pretty mundane snapshot. As long as Mojang or the Minecraft community discover no more critical issues in this snapshot, this will likely become the 1.18.1 patch update Minecraft: Java Edition players should see in the coming weeks.
