What you need to know

  • The Minecraft Marketplace is where you can buy and download texture packs, maps, character skins, and more.
  • Some are built by companies and organizations, while a lot is produced by the community.
  • The Minecraft Marketplace Spring Sale has begun, and it discounts a bunch of stuff.
  • The discounts will go until April 14, 2020, and are as much as 75% off select content packs.

Spring has arrived again, much as it does pretty much every year, so that means it's time for Minecraft's Spring Sale in the Marketplace. If you're interested in adding to your Minecraft catalogue with a new adventure map, or some sweet new character skins, this is a great time to get the content you want at a discounted price. The discounts go all the way up to 75% off some content, and the sale features a great variety of different packs, so you're bound to find something you like.

There should also be some "door busters," so-to-speak, that'll pop up throughout the sale with more aggressive discounts. You can keep an eye on Minecraft's Twitter if you want to catch the sales in the act. To peruse the catalog of freshly affordable content, you can check out the Minecraft Marketplace for the full list.

Mojang has something for those of us who don't intend to plop down some change in a free adventure map that anyone can download and play right now. The map is called "Spring-a-Majig," and sees you enter an alternate universe where the entirety of Minecraft's usually-vibrant world has become frozen over, and the landscape is suffocating underneath the ice. It's gotten to the point where peaceful animals have turned hostile and violent, and lash out at everyone. Using a special tool, you can return spring to the land and restore balance.

There's no harm in trying it out, especially since it's the low, low price of completely free. If you're interested, you can find that gem here. Mojang promises another freebie in the form of an "explosive character creator item," but that particular entry hasn't been revealed to us yet. As soon as we have the details, you can be sure we'll let you know.

In the meantime, you can check out Mojang's blog post detailing the Marketplace Spring Sale, or skip the wait and head straight to the Marketplace to find yourself your next map or texture pack. You only have until April 14, so act fast!
