MSN Movies for Windows Phone get a decent update

It’s been a long time since we mentioned MSN Movies, the popular and free ‘movie theater’ app from Microsoft. Although ‘MSN’ seems to be slowly getting out of vogue (seriously, that needs a rebranding), the app is still chugging along having gone to version 1.7 recently.

The app has always been quite fast and minimalist, offering you showtimes, theater locations and even trailers. Now with v1.7, we get some much-needed social-sharing ability and a couple of other tricks:

  • Select the date so you can find show times for the next seven days.
  • Share movies with your friends by posting to Facebook, Twitter or emailing.
  • Pin your favorite theater to your Start screen.

Not too shabby and we do like the ‘jet black’ look of the app. Although if we had to choose, we still prefer the somewhat ‘heavier’ Fandango app just so we can purchase tickets directly without having to go through the Web browser. But if you just need local times and want something basic, MSN Movies can’t be beat.

Pick up MSN Movies here in the Windows Phone Store.
