Nokia Lumia 520 available at Orange FR for just a single euro

Orange in France has the Lumia 520 listed on its website. The Nokia Windows Phone 8 smartphone is the cheapest device the manufacturer has released, running Microsoft's operating system. Announced back at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, it's good to see the device heading to more mobile operators across Europe. So how much will consumers have to pay to pick one up?

The Lumia 520 is listed for 1 euro when taken out with a 24-month contract (24 euros a month), along with a 39 euro option (19 euros a month for 24-months). It's in both blue and black (latter currently unavailable) and specifications include a 4-inch LCD display (480x800), dual-core 1GHz chip, 8GB internal storage (with SD support), 512MB RAM and has a 5MP rear shooter. What's unique about the Lumia 520 is how Nokia has managed to include Sensitive Touch, much like what's available on the Lumia 920.

If you're looking at a cheap, but efficient Windows Phone the Lumia 520 may well be the perfect choice.

  • Wow
  • This phone is just gorgeous. There is a market for phones that cheap and beautiful.
  • Come on in Romania baby :)
  • Terrible contract when you consider how cheap the 520 is when bought outright  - certainly not a phone to sign a 24 month contract.*
    * Note: I'm not saying the 520 is a bad phone, it is excellent value when bought outright.
  • ^This.
Good phone, for its single euro, but the contract price per month is the way too terrible for 24 months long (€24 per month), resulting in 577 euros if you calculate them. Considering 920 with SIM free then ;)
  • Considering to get this one next to my 8x for the nokia apps and maybe just to have for a music player.. :P
  • Is it true this phone doesn't have flash for camera?
  • Yes it doesn't
  • I love Nokia but someone else needs to make a WP.
  • That's the dumbest thing I ever heard
  • Why? Because Nokia did fantastic with only their OS in the smartphone race? It worked for Apple? It didn't work that way for Windows Mobile or Android or BlackBerry. It was just a comment, albeit misplaced, I crave competition in MS' world or we end up with crap. Once Nokia realizes they are only competing with themselves in Windows land they might move to Android or FF or make start to make crappy WP hardware and go poof! Who knows!
  • Looking for Android? Then it's time to go for Samsung's, not Nokia's, as it won't ever go for Android.
  • I'm guessing that means 1 dollar. I'm not from Euro so I don't know. By the way, I'm a brain surgeon.
  • Yes, one euro equals about 1.30.
  • sry but thats a bad deal. you pay 576€ or 960€ (with option) over 2 years for a 170€ smartphone. Orange Luxembourg offers the Lumia 620 for 25€/month and offers it (also the 620) for 9€/month + 45€ (261€!).
So even if you need the contract, the device you get with it is not that great (in relation to the price). For 39.90€/month you can get at least a 820 for free.
  • I'm looking forward to Lumia 520 in Turkey :) It's wonderful device for me.
  • #screenShotsWp8 use this hash tag on twitter along with your screen shot. Microsoft won't show off the features of this great device then I think we should.
