Official Amazon Assistant extension is now available for Microsoft Edge

Should you happen to be quite the Amazon shopper, you'll definitely want to check out the now available Amazon Assistant for Microsoft's Edge web browser. This handy little extension lends a helping hand when it comes to making decisions about spending money on the retail giant's website.

This is achieved by offering quick access to the Deal of the Day, product comparisons so you know you're getting the best bang for your buck, as well as your universal wish list. If saving products for future viewing/purchase wasn't enough, the extension even has shortcuts to send you straight to popular Amazon destinations right within the browser, saving some time in the process.

Excited to check it out? Download the extension (spotted by WinPhone.ir) and let us know how you get on in the comments!

Thanks Amir Z. for the tip!

  • Use this extension all the time in Opera, it's so handy if you shop on Amazon a lot like I do. Assuming it's basically the same extension it's a great addition to Edge!
  • People who shop on Amazon regularly should be shopping on Amazon Smile's site instead. It's still Amazon except part of the money you spend goes to charity (doesn't cost you anything).
  • Is anybody else getting the popup telling you to install the Smile.Amazon button for Chrome whenever one opens the Smile.Amazon website in Edge? I am getting very annoyed...
  • Waiting for extensions to come to Edge mobile.
  • its going to be awhile
  • Yeah, actually it should be. Whatever comes on PC, should be available for Mobile too. It would have been great :)
  • This goes great with the Amazon Prime Video app, the Amazon Prime Music app, and Amazon Prime Photos app and only on desktop, the shopping app from 10 years ago.  What do we really have?  Kindle app which is atrociously out of date but thankfully works as I use it daily, and the excellent Audiable app.  But that was originally a different company and I guess Amazon central hasn't realized they're still writing great apps for Windows. Isn't it about time Amazon actually supported Windows users?
  • I downloaded it and decided not to enable it due to the amount of information it harvests from the browser and your browsing habits Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Yes, yes it does.  You are basically allowing Amazon to spy on you.
  • They should make UWP app for windows 10.
  • Hopefully in the works. I don't think amazon will want to lose any opportunity to boost their business.
  • Hope so but No news of that .
  • Beautiful.
  • i tried instlaling it yesterday and it only downloaded to IE not Edge
  • So...Amazon is interested in Windows 10. UWP app in the future??
  • Oh wow! This thing is cool. We buy even household items like paper towels on Amazon so to say we use it a lot would be an understatement. I never "got" extensions having only used IE then Edge... never was a big deal to me because I'd never experienced them before. Things like this are finally making me get it :)
  • So these extensions only work on fast and slow ring builds of W10? I'm on release preview (10586.494). I'm only using a Surface 3 right now and wasn't sure if those builds are stable enough. I'll prob just wait for the Anniversary Update.
  • Doesn't work with the latest build released last night. Says doesn't meet minimum requirements. (on surface 3)
  • I think these extensions shouldn't have their own personalities or even own interfaces. Rather I think they should revolve somewhat around Cortana. You, know like work with her. They could have slightly different interfaces to tell them apart, but managed by Cortana in a sense. If you get what I mean. Lol I don't really know how to put it. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android Daniel, could you comment on this. You know if it's possible at this stage?
  • Couldn't get it to work. Kept asking me to sign in. Could be because I use two factor authentication, Kindle won't let me in either I think because of that. Really wanted to like it, and try it, but useless if I can't sign in to the extension, even if I am signed in to AMazon website
  • Does this let your highlight text on any page and have it open a new tab or bring up an Amazon product search? I TERRIBLY miss that from the IE Accelerator...
  • I know it is a bit childish of me, but I sometimes wonder why Microsoft permits this extension after Amazon pulls it's Win10 mobile app, why is it not a two way street, if they want to increase their business with an Edge extension they should make a W10m UWP.
