Official HoloLens Companion app will let you stream video to your PC

Microsoft has an official HoloLens Companion app available for Windows 10. This new app enables those who will be picking up the smart headgear from Microsoft to perform various functions using their PC, including the ability to stream video from the HoloLens.

As spotted by WalkingCat on Twitter, the HoloLens Companion app allows you to connect your HoloLens over Wi-Fi to download media, control and view a live stream from the device itself or even remotely launch apps.

You can grab the app by hitting the link below, but you'll be disappointed unless you have a HoloLens at hand. Pre-orders for the HoloLens are expected to be kicking off today for a March 30 launch.

  • What about wp 10 official update of todays' (Feb 29)?
  • This is about Hololens :)
  • Still waiting for some news on that update.
  • Let's have some more patience for a week.
  • This is the sixth time the release date slipped.
  • It's hopeless waiting on W10for my Lumia640xl I'm barely think about it now and move on. Already lost faith to Microsoft.
  • Well the question is right anyway.
  • I seriously am rooting for this to be successful. Hopefully Microsoft won't screw the pooch on this launch.
  • In Australia, screwing the pooch relates to dodgy contractors taking advantage, where are you from?
  • Lol probably used it wrong. I meant basically messing up this launch (like they did with Xbox for example). I'm American lol
  • It says the developer is analog apps which has me questioning if it is legit
  • At least on mobile
  • Noticed that... Wondering the same thing. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • the reviews feel like they were done by the same person
  • Saw that too and was going to question the title of this article proclaiming it as an "Official" app. Wouldn't it come from Microsoft if it was an official companion app?
  • Promises and promises. ONLY.
  • ???????????????????????
  • Someday we'll look back at this and laugh at how we looked. It is cool technology though.
  • Probably the same way we laugh at Servers from 40 years ago.
  • Cooooooooool. Let's see how much Microsoft stands up at the hype they have created till now.. It's pretty cooool tough!
  • It's like you can only need a white or green board in the future to project things at (no monitors) but hell yeah, HoloLens is way beyond that ;) Hope Microsoft brings out more creative and successful projects from R&D in the days ahead.
  • Please photoshop Belfiore from this photo, it makes me sad... :(
  • This photo always make me laugh :'D
