OneDrive and Camera apps for Windows 10 Mobile get minor updates

Microsoft has released some new versions of the OneDrive and Camera apps for Windows 10 Mobile. However, these appear to be minor new updates with no change logs published.

Officially, the version number for OneDrive has gone up from 17.4.1 to 17.5.1, while the Camera app's version number has changed from 1088.11 to 1088.21. If you own the new Lumia 950, you won't get these updates because Microsoft shipped the smartphones with the new versions of these apps out of the box.

  • Someone tell me why many of the editing apps do not edit the full resolution photo. I have the camera set to only 16mb, but anytime I go to edit using apps like Fantasia, the photo is not the best quality
  • This is why I always edit my photos on PC
  • Yeah, I'm gonna have to from now on. I'm surprised more people don't complain about this. Maybe they don't notice but it's obvious if you really look
  • Fhotoroom does full rez
  • since updating Camera on my lumia 1020 with W10mobile, Lumia camera is gone... its now integrated into Microsoft camera i think.
  • After upgrading to W10M, do a hard reset, then you'll get the Lumia camera app, but these 2 cameras are same now
  • I had lumia camera, after updating the Microsoft camera, lumia camera is gone. So like i say, i think even for the 1020, its now integrated into camera. also, camera starts up within a second, where previously on the 1020, it took a bit longer. Saving photos is also quicker now!
  • Lumia Camera just presents a message to redirect to Windows camera. And rightly so, or all and more (rich capture, slow motion video, speed to launch and shot to shot time improved). Not saying anything about 1020 special capabilities. On 930 video recording missing sound is no solved.
  • Minor, minor, but at least, it has fixed the Rich Capture issue on my 640 (it captured only 1280x720 pics, now fixed) \o/
  • I read mirror, mirror, then realised it wasn't. Too much caffeine with speed reading :-/
  • I still getting 1280x720 images according to file information. Mine is 640xl. :(
  • These apps just updated on the 950 so I doubt it shipped with the current versions.
  • These updated last night. I had them on all my phones by 9PM EST.
  • Why do all apps these days have only transparent tiles?! We need opaque tiles also Microsoft! Please encourage third party developers to add an option in their app to switch between transparent and opaque tiles. You do it first and everyone will follow.
  • I agree it would be better if we had the choice. But it's really the app developer's choice, as someone from WC said before
  • Yes not really enjoy transparent sometimes
  • OneDrive got some visual treatments and that's all folks! Don't get excited that free storage is back.
  • No, it got more than visual treatments
  • It appears to have fixed my problem with some photos/videos not auto-uploading. (At least it appears that they are uploading now.) Though it appears like it might be re-uploading some items that had already been uploaded. (Since there are more in the list than I expected.) We will have to see if it fixes the problem with photos/videos showing the wrong date/time in some places. I hope so.
  • Nope videos still upload to OneDrive with the wrong date/time. It does appear that photos now have the correct date/time in all the places, so at least that is a step forward.
  • I'm still not happy with the image quality of the photos from the new camera app. They look so grainy and noisy even in ideal lighting. It's almost like there's a watercolour effect being applied. Has anyone else noticed this?
  • Yes. On my 930 the photo quality is disappointing.
  • Has anyone else noticed that every since W10M RTM, the camera apps and the photos apps have been really fast? Like, faster than 8.1. At least for me.
  • They need to add the ability to include Sharepoint storage in the OneDrive app. Since they got rid of the Office hub there is no way to access your Sharepoint site storage on the phone without using the site. So basically anyone who has a company that uses Office365, like ours, and uses the Sharepoint to store lots of files, they completely removed the function of accessing those files from the phone.
  • I completely agree. SharePoint is a major Microsoft business feature and if they're trying to market Windows 10 to businesses this is a glaringly obvious oversight!
  • *Comment got posted below for some weird reason.* I don't understand this decision at all. It's one of those things that make people say Microsoft takes one step forward and one step back. They advertise their Sharepoint online storage for Office365 as a feature, but then remove the ability to access it from their phones. I tweeted at both Sharepoint and OneDrive asking how to access Sharepoint on Win10 Mobile and they ignored the tweets. I then did some more research then found out that the new OneDrive for Business app that's currently in beta is actually going to REMOVE the ability to sync Sharepoint to your desktop completely. This is why they ignored the tweets, they knew there was no way to access it and they knew they were removing that ability from OneDrive. On their feedback site it's currently one of the top things people are voting on to keep them from doing this. I just moved my company's files to Sharepoint for all to access from anywhere and synced the collection to everyone's workstations, so if they remove this and don't come up with some way to share a huge collection of files through OneDrive, then it's off to Dropbox we go.
  • My camera on the Lumia 830 is always 'adding finishing touches' after taking a photo. Very slow and annoying. Even worse is that the resulting images are of poor quality.
  • Same problem here, even after all of these updates it still has issues with adding the finishing touches.

  • Got the update for these app on my 950 last night....
  • OneDrive files should be accessible from the File Explorer app. The UI of OneDrive is extremely bad, you cannot even long press a file to access file options. You need first to press Select then select the file(s) then press the three dots to access file options. File Explorer is so much better.
  • How come Microsoft never seems to post a changelog when updating is apps on WP.
When Microsoft updates its apps on Android it always adds a pithy paragraph or two explaining the changes Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • OneDrive got quite a few design changes it looks like. And even an optional password lock.
  • My 930 can't record sound while filming in Camera on W10M. If someone had the same problem earlier, but now this update resolved it, please let me know :)
(rolled back to 8.1, so can't test it out myself)
  • It previously only recorded mono audio on my Lumia Icon. I hope this fixes it so it records stereo.
  • Not recording sound yet on this new version. We have the faulty mic L930s. We need to activate surround recording, to get the other channels as we did in 8.1. It's unbelievable that W10M camera doesnt record surround. I can't get assistance for the faulty mic from MS because I bought my 930 in other country, and in my country the 930 doesn't exist/have support. I have to live with the mic issue, I'm just asking to activate the other mics in order to record at least one cannel, as I had in 8.1... I pray for this to be fixed in W10M Camera, or a way to make Lumia Camera work again... The same for the Speakerphone mic in calls, Whatsapp voice recording, OneNote, etc. It should be easy to software reasign the mics for the faulty 930s, as a firmware fix, I dont care to have 2 mics instead of 4, I would love to have at least one working for all the apps...
  • Hey! Thanks for replying! I actually only have the problem in Windows Camera, but I've already heard about the faulty mic thing. I'm so scared to have it too actually. I'll upgrade to W10M to try (because of the comment below). I'll keep you posted!
  • Sadly it didn't fix it...
  • Version 2015.1088.21.0 fixed it!!!! Checked with both be videos and videos recorded with the faulty version. Can't believe what a nasty but and how long it took them, but it's working again on 930. Can't say the same for edit rich capture or slow motion, that crashes reach time.
  • lets help each other. I have that version number but no audio recording on videos. Then I guess it is other setting for audio, we should check which audio settings you are using. Go to Settings, and in the second tab, you have Dolby Virtual Surround in auto (greyed)? the rest of settings, everything is switched on? I have this settings and no audio on 2015.1088.21.0. By the way, to recover rich capture edit, go and uninstall Lumia Moments, then go to WinCamera, take a shot with Rich Capture, got to Photos and Edit Rich Capture is Back. The same works for Slow Motion Edit. Please try and comment!!!
  • Sadly it didn't fix it here...
  • Hopefully this will make the Camera work in W10. On my laptop I can't take a picture or video, if I try it gives an error message and crashes. Slightly annoying...
  • The camera loads faster and saves quicker. 4K video recording performance is on par if not better. Also, my 1.2MP front camera quality doesn't look like VGA in 2005.
  • I am using Lumia 1020 and camera app ver. is still "5.49.2004.0", it seems I am not receiving new WP10 app updates
  • I was so hoping after pho ablum changes with pivoting coming back that wed see microsoft bring more pivoting back into windows 10, shame they keep insisting on the hamburger menu and shame its in one of the wrost placement areas of a phone.
  • why my lumia 1020 not arrive slomo... and android app support...?
  • How is OneDrive for searching tagged photos? On the wp8.1 version it seems to retrieve only a subset of photos when searching tags, which is really annoying.
