PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds insanity continues, now over 1 million concurrent players

It's fair to say that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is the big success story from 2017 in the gaming sphere. Not only is it coming to Xbox One before we ring in 2018 (or so we expect right now), it continues to go from strength to strength on the PC.

Not long after hitting 10 million copies sold in early access, another ridiculous milestone has now passed: One million concurrent players.

That's remarkable on any number of levels. Not only does it mean over a million people are playing the game at the same time, it also equates to about 1/10th of the purchase volume so far. Those are some high numbers.

It also completely trounces Valve's own Dota 2 in the charts, a game which is both ridiculously popular and free. That plus CS:GO have been the big hitters on Steam for a while now, but PUBG is eating their lunch. And it's not even finished yet. Not to mention costing 30 bucks for the privilege of playing it not finished.

As a celebratory treat, PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene, has posted a sneak peek at the foggy weather effects hitting the game next week.

The question is, what's next?
