Prey gets hide-and-seek multiplayer mode next week

The Prey reboot wasn't the resounding commercial success Bethesda hoped for, but that didn't rule out new content from the franchise in the future. A few months ago, Vice President Pete Hines said "I don't think you've heard the last of Prey. I just couldn't tell you precisely when you might hear more."

Recently, Bethesda released a free update alongside a major expansion called "Mooncrash." Today, the company announced that the "Typhon Hunter" final update releases next week. The mode adds a tense new multiplayer mode on December 11, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Typhon Hunter is basically multiplayer hide-and-seek, where one player, as Morgan Yu, is stalked by five opponents playing as Mimics, who hide in plain sight as everyday objects before seizing upon their prey. Morgan must hunt down and destroy all five Mimics before time runs out.

Players who already purchased Prey: Digital Deluxe or upgraded their original version of Prey with Prey: Mooncrash, will receive both new game modes at no extra cost. Prey is a first-person shooter which takes place on a space station overrun by a hostile alien presence. It's up to you to fight through various open environments and prevent the creatures from reaching Earth. It's a unique blend of horror and exploration we haven't seen before in the genre.

In our review, we called Prey "an unforgettable... horror game that's dark, deep and dizzying." Hopefully Bethesda can find ways for it to appeal to more gamers down the line.
