Sea of Thieves is an exploration-based pirate game that features great sailing mechanics, but the open-ended plot doesn't appeal to everyone. You have to find your own path and that doesn't sit well with those who prefer single-player experiences. Over the past few months, developer Rare has added a lot of content to the game, and with the release of the "Shrouded Spoils" update last year, it seems like the game is enjoying tremendous popularity.
Shockingly enough, Sea of Thieves managed to become the most-watched game on Twitch today, beating the likes of Fortnite and Dota 2. In celebration of this milestone, Xbox's Head of Marketing Aaron Greenberg just announced that the game was being discounted by fifty percent. Hopefully Sea of Thieves will continue its Twitch streak in the coming days because there's always the risk that it's a passing fad for streamers.
We have a special offer for anyone looking to buy @SeaOfThieves which hit the #1 most watched game on Twitch today! #BeMorePirate https://t.co/wfVwH4PZvP pic.twitter.com/Atdt7GWelJWe have a special offer for anyone looking to buy @SeaOfThieves which hit the #1 most watched game on Twitch today! #BeMorePirate https://t.co/wfVwH4PZvP pic.twitter.com/Atdt7GWelJ— Aaron Greenberg 🙅🏼♂️💚U (@aarongreenberg) January 24, 2019January 24, 2019
Sea of Thieves is currently available for $29.99 through the Microsoft Store, but it's free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Keep in mind that the discount only applies to the digital version which can be played on Xbox One or Windows 10 through Xbox Play Anywhere. The title runs at native 4K resolution on Xbox One X and looks crystal clear. The game started off as a rather barebones experience when it first launched, but due to excellent post-launch support, Rare has managed to turn it around. This sort of success is many ways unprecedented in the gaming industry.
Recently, the game's Executive Producer Joe Neate announced that the title would get some major combat tweaks and a new quest system. There's also an update called "The Arena" coming soon. Are you interested in Sea of Thieves? Will these changes bring you back? Let us know.

Sea of Thieves is roughly $30 digitally on Amazon too, but codes are limited.
the game is not available in my country. Why down vote ?
Because you speak negatively of MS. Fanboys will get mad.
Well, I didn't see that coming. Though the recent article on the changes to combat has my interest. I guess we'll see what happens.
wow, I thought everyone said this game sucks and it would fail, not be #1 on twitch
Riiiight. Because the quality of a game depends on the number of twitch viewers...
You better not look at the number of viewers for most of the days since launch. lol
The pain in your words... delicious.
In my words? LOL I just put the guy in his place. It looks more as if my comment made you upset.
It's ok. Quality is not equal to number of views, but it'll will be ok...
Half price in UK as well 🏴☠️
Great game with friends and well supported since release...
