Snake Rewind is a classic reboot coming to Windows Phone on May 14

Get ready for a nostalgia-fueled haze of excitement: the creator of Snake is bringing a reboot of the mobile classic to Windows Phone on May 14. Called Snake Rewind, the reboot breaks the game out of its classic black-and-white confines and adds a splash of color and extra flair with 10 visually distinct levels and new power ups.

Here's a breakdown of what's coming in Snake Rewind:

  • Rewind the snake to continue the game even after crashing!
  • Many different types of special fruit, with unique powers and effects!
  • 10 levels with distinct visuals and music, unlocked by completing fun and challenging missions!
  • Fruit Store where boosters and items can be upgraded and purchased, using fruit that you collect while playing!
  • Compete against other players for higher scores and rankings on the leaderboards, connect with friends on Facebook!
  • Fill the whole screen with the snake and find out what happens then!

The game comes as part of a partnership between developer Rumilus Design and Taneli Armanto, the creator of the Snake game that came loaded on nearly every classic Nokia phone. As mentioned above, you'll be able to snag Snake Rewind on Windows Phone when it launches on May 14, so you still have plenty of time to bust out that old Nokia phone and brush up on your skills.

  • Yeah, good old memories! :D
  • 3310!!

  • I used to play Snake on my Nokia 1100! :D Such a lovely phone.
  • I still have my Nokia 1100 with me, here right next to my pillow.
  • Hmm.... As an alarm+backup phone?
  • Yes.. Hahahaha
  • I had the 3210, then 3310, and then 6210!
  • I had a 6110, 3210, 8310 and a 3200.  Looking back I realize how quickly I went through phones in my younger, more formative years.  I was really hard on those things. Not much has acutally changed except the fact that my Lumias are more fragile.
  • I mean, I want it so bad, best phone-game I ever had.
  • Loved to play it on my dads nokia 1100! Thanks for bringing it to windows, cant wait!
  • Nostalgia is a nice thing.
  • Pretty Cool, alot of Nostalgia for Previous Nokia Owners which I think is everyone who had a phone in the early 90's!!!!! I'll be getting this classic!!!!
  • Never understood why Nokia didn't bundle a Snake game on Lumias, just for old time's sake.
  • Because Lumia was all about Microsoft...
  • It didn't stop them from having the Nokia theme.
  • F yeah!! Calendar noted!
  • I'm going to download it for sure when it launches! And would be great if the game was exclusive to us!
  • Oh..reminded me of those old B&W Nokia days..awaiting...
  • Any word on pricing?
  • Free with IAP.
  • another game to get the appxpackage for!
  • Pirate!
  • Problem?
  • Too bad it's not exclusive for windows. At least it will ship on all 3 platforms the same time.
  • Brings back memories of creating similar games using BASIC in the 80's. Trying anyway.
  • Nice Music though :)
  • Awesome..
  • This with xbox achievements...
  • I liked Snakes on Symbian :P hope they'll bring it back someday :P
  • The n-gage version?
  • Nice!
  • This game should have come preloaded with all Nokia Lumias. Would have been great
  • Don't need this. I can still play it on my 3310. Because it still works.
  • Funny how Nokia seems to get the credit for the game. It was originally from the 70's, but my first exposure was from Microsoft itself via the game Rattler Race on Microsoft Entertainment Pack for Windows 3.1.
  • Because it was Nokia that massified the game.   Apple didn't invent the tablet but they get the credit because they were the ones that massified its use. Microsoft didn't invent the PC but they're also the name you associate with PCs because they massified its use. It's always like that.
  • I'd recommend this version of snake: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store/app/snake/5da05ed8-dc37-42ff-bf6b-d802a4a361a1

  • I need!!
  • Great
  • now we only need a good tetris game and i am happy :)
  • I play Tetris with snes8x, super nintendo emulator.

  • Reminds me of Novell's loadsnake
  • I used to play this game on my dad's Nokia 1110
