The Nokia Lumia 710 is expected to hit T-Mobile's shelve on January 11, 2012 and will run just under $50 after contractual discounts . It will be the first Nokia Windows Phone for the U.S. Market and we've gotten our hands on one.
First impressions? The 710 is a very nice, compact Windows Phone. Feels solid in the hand and the screen looks great.
The Lumia 710 is slightly smaller than T-Mobile's other Windows Phone, the HTC Radar, separated by only tenths of an inch. The Lumia 710 has a 3.7" screen while the Radar sports a 3.8" screen. The Lumia 710 is also very similar in size to the AT&T Samsung Focus Flash with the Flash being slightly smaller and lighter in size.
|Nokia Lumia 710||HTC Radar||Samsung Focus Flash|
|Size||4.69 x 2.46 x .49||4.7 x 2.4 x .43||4.57 x 2.31 x .27|
|Weight||4.4 ounces||4.83 ounces||4.1 ounces|
The Lumia 710 is fitted with 512mb RAM, 8GB of storage, a 5mp camera, and 1300mah battery. As with other second generation Windows Phones, the Lumia 710 comes across as a well built, solid phone but due to smaller storage space, the lack of a front facing camera and other specs it may not appeal to everyone.
We'll take the Lumia 710 out for a test drive over the next few days and get a full review up on the site shortly thereafter. If there's anything in particular you'd like us to look at, speak up in the comments.

Having finally seen this in your hands, under studio lights, I can say that if VZW just absolutely refuses to show-up by……mid-Summer…I'll be okay with a 710. Still not crazy about the unibrow button(s) but I could live with it.
i gotta give to them though a smartphone like this for just 50$ is pretty fantastic!
How are the exclusive Nokia Apps? Such as ESPN and Nokia Drive.
Nokia drive is pretty cool. Not sure about ESPN as it is not on my 800
I'm keen to know about the buttons, im excited to see some physical buttons but id be unsure about how its one big button
I played with this phone for a while yesterday and although it is pretty great for the price I didn't like it as well as the Radar.
The biggest positive is the colors and blacks of the screen as well as just a pretty beautiful looking device that feels good in the hand. I did have some problems with the device though too which are listed below.
First problem was the physical buttons, they are just used way too often to have to press down on a physical button when you are used to touch screen interaction. It has a very jarring effect to the whole flow of using the device. It does save you from accidental presses but makes pressing them when you want to more of a pain.
Second issue was that the screen although it looked nice wasn't smooth like most screens I have used when sliding your finger across it. Not sure if this is just because the film had just been removed and had residue or that the screen is made of a material that does not glide well.
Third issue was that the screen although beautiful has a somewhat sunk down feeling to it. Doesn't really bother me as far as looks go but felt weird when it came to touching buttons etc.
For free or 50 bucks it is pretty darn awesome but personally I would go with the Radar if you are on TMobile which is a pretty awesome little phone. Really wish TMobile would get some higher end devices, it is causing me to go to ATT : (
I agree with you that the Radar is a little bit better of a device than the Nokia Lumia 710. Especially for people who love taking pictures of themselves as well as with friends, the front facing camera is perfect for that. I got this phone on upgrade but took it back after 5 days only because I wanted to make sure T-Mobile wasn't going to release some 16gb, 4" screen device with a 1.3mp or better front facing camera. I'm waiting to see what kind of noise T-Mobile stirs up this week and if they don't announce the next great thing, I'll be right back at T-Mobile picking up the Radar.
This is a can of spraypaint...
Hahaha great start, love it :)
