Atom launches first mobile-only bank in the UK, coming to Windows later this year

Atom is a new startup in the UK that will offer banking products and services mainly through available mobile apps. Kicking off with support for iPhone and iPad, plans to launch a Windows app later this year are in place.

Four new banking apps for Windows Phone: Air Bank, Bank Nordik, Caixadirecta, and Bancolombia App

Earlier this morning, we reported that Veneto Banca has released a new banking app for those in Italy using Windows Phone.

As it turns out (and some of you reminded us), there have been numerous banking apps released around the world in the past few weeks. Here are four of them that users have tipped us on so far.

TD Bank releases their Windows Phone app for Canadians

Back in June, Windows Central reported that TD Bank was working on apps for Windows Phone. At the time, we noted that the initial release may be limited to just Canada with a wider rollout coming later. Just as expected, this is exactly what is happening.

Today, Windows Phone users in Canada can download the official TD Bank app and get their bank on when they are out on the town.

Ally Bank now at the Windows Phone Store

A couple of weeks ago, we found out that Ally Bank was in the final stages of completing their Windows Phone 8 application. If you’re a customer, the wait is over. The Ally mobile banking app is now available at the Windows Phone Store. It puts everyday banking tasks at your fingertips.

ING Direct Australia releases their banking app for Windows Phone 8

If you have an ING Direct account in Australia, you now also have a Windows Phone 8 app. Customers can use the app to check transactions, view account balances, send payments, and find the nearest bank locations. It's great to have these features in an app instead of solely depending on the mobile browser.

USAA banking app returns with Windows Phone 8 support in latest update

After disappearing from the Windows Phone Store nearly 11 months ago, the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) banking app has finally returned with some new features and Windows Phone 8 support.

The app was pulled in early 2013 and USAA later went on record stating there was simply not enough market share for Windows Phone 8 to justify their continued support of the app. Since then, people who had the app previously installed could not even use it as it stopped working.

Deutsche Bank, Norisbank and Berliner Bank apps come to Windows Phone 8

Deutsche Bank is one of the largest financial and banking institutions in the world. The bank has over 2 trillion Euros in assets and handles the finances and banking needs of private, business, corporate and institutional clients. It’s a big bank that finally has proper apps for Windows Phone 8 users. That’s right, not one, but three apps are available from Deutsche Bank AG in the Windows Phone Store.

Official BBVA Compass banking app finally comes to Windows Phone

Some banks are better than others. My own bank, BBVA Compass is not exactly terrific, but I don’t have an abundance of choices in my small city. One thing I’ve long lamented is the lack of a Windows Phone app to make checking my account easier. Heck, BBVA Compass doesn’t even offer a mobile version of their site, so logging in and checking my stuff on my phone has always taken longer than necessary. Those difficulties finally came to an end this week, as there is now an official BBVA Compass app on the Windows Phone Store.
