Top Bike: Real Racing Speed & Best Moto Drag Racer, two-wheel speed for Windows

Top Bike: Real Racing Speed & Best Moto Drag Racer is a racing game that puts you behind the handlebars of customizable motorcycles to test your drag racing skills. Available for both Windows Phone and PC, the racing game falls in line with similar side-view drag racing games such as Top Speed: Drag & Fast Racing or Drag Racing, except you are on two-wheels instead of four.

Graphics are decent, gameplay challenging and overall Top Bike is a fun game to spend a little time with to fill your need for speed.

Top Bike

When you first launch Top Bike: Real Racing Speed & Best Moto Drag Racer, the game walks you through a series of tutorials to get you familiar with gameplay. Even after the initial series of tutorials, additional instructions pop-up when new gaming features become available. Once you complete the tutorials and can freely explore gameplay, Top Bike has a primary menu with options to visit the motorcycle dealer to pick up new bikes, customize your motorcycles, view your fleet of bikes, upgrade your bikes and enter races.

Motorcycles available for purchase include four-wheelers, dirt bikes, choppers, Spyder-style bikes and more. Upgrades available include engines, transmissions, tires, gears, frames and more. Bikes, upgrades and customizations (paint jobs and decals) cost you a few gaming bucks that are earned during gameplay.

Throughout Top Bike's menus, a statistics bar is displayed showing your cash count, gold count, fuel level and gaming level. Each game costs you one fuel point and these points are replenished over time or you can use gaming gold or in-app purchases to replenish it faster.

Top Bike

Top Bike includes four racing modes that include:

  • Boss Battles: Work your way up the ladder by challenging highly skilled racers in multi-staged races. The prize money for winning these races is greater than what you find with other races.
  • Street Race: Take on local racers for a quick race to earn experience and a little gaming cash.
  • Ranking Race: Compete against other players to see who can climb the leaderboard and post the fastest time.
  • Most Wanted: Race daily as the local Motorcycle Cop to beat a crew of Most Wanted Racers.

Regardless of the racing mode, the mechanics of gameplay is consistent throughout Top Bike: Real Racing Speed & Best Moto Drag Racer. The race begins with you and your opponent at the starting line. Tap the accelerator to rev your engine and start the countdown timer. The goal is to top the accelerator to get your engine revving in the green area of the RPM gauge. This give your bike a good bit of momentum out of the starting blocks.

As your speed down the straightaway, you tap the gear shifter as the needle on the RPM gauge reaches the green zone. This allows your bike to shift smoothly without losing any momentum during the race. Tap too soon or late and the bike slows down. If you have upgraded your ride to include a nitro booster, you can tap the booster button (positioned on the right side of the handlebars) anytime during the race.

Speaking of upgrades, as you progress through the game upgrades are a must to keep up with the competition. There is also a Mechanic available from the Racing Menu that provides your motorcycle a boost in overall performance. Mechanics are for hire using the gold you earn during racing and is only available for a limited number of races.

Top Bike Windows PC

Overall impressions with Top Bike: Real Racing Speed & Best Moto Drag Racer are good. The graphics aren't shabby, but some of the motorcycles look awkward – almost boxy – in appearance. Gameplay nicely challenges your skills at timing and awareness. Tap just a millisecond too soon and it could cost you a race.

The upgrades definitely helps you stay competitive during races, the earnings are generous and while I'm not a fan of the fuel or token system of gameplay, Top Bike isn't too stingy with the fuel points.

All in all, if you like racing games Top Bike: Real Racing Speed & Best Moto Drag Racer is worth checking out. I did find the Windows Phone version played out a little better than the PC version. The game does support keyboard controls is you play from a non-touch device, but those controls feel a little cumbersome. Playing from the touchscreen of a tablet or Windows Phone feels smoother.

Top Bike is a free game and available for both Windows Phone and PC.
